Audio Profiles Actions |

Hi folks,
Actually I try to setup my JK environment... I need some help in understanding of audio profiles in JK... My three audio profiles are:
1) In: Focusrite Scarlett 4i4/ Out: Audio integr.
2) Jam Chat
3) System Default (Playback Only)
JK allows for each audio profile to set actions (activate, configure, delete). As the last two actions are clear to me, I wonder how activate works. I only activate one profile at a time.
Am I right to assume, that I should per default my audio profile 1)? Or is it recommended to activate the default profile 3)?
Would be great if someone could help. Appreciate it!
Thks, Andy

I would really like to try Jamkazam but my PC uses Linux. I haven't found another service that looks as though it would work for more than 1 musician. I haven't found a
Jamkazam app for Linux although there seems to be a reserved space for it in the downloads section. If the app is written in Java I can help with coding. I would imagine the Mac version would be a good basis for development.
Would I be correct to think the app is designed as a Peer-to-peer mesh network node, with call set up via the central server?
Regards
Emma

I downloaded the latest 1.0.3744 msi file and tried to install. I get 'preparing to install' for ever. I've tried disabling all virus protection etc. To no avail. Tried restarting my computer. Made sure to confirm my email. Nope. Never really seen this before installing anything else. I'm on Windows 10 Home 1903 OS build: 18362.900

Hi Everyone!
I'm brand new here and really have no clue what this sites about but I'm always into learning new stuff...
What brought me here was, I was trying to find out how to find a way to get some collaboration on a Christian tune I wrote.
I'm not much of a musician really, but I think it's a pretty cool tune and I just really have no clue what to do with it next....
I recorded it in Ableton, which I also just learned a little bit about, and I converted it into an mp3. If anyone would like to check it out I'd be more than happy to send it to them. If for nothing else but an opinion from other musicians that would be awesome.
For all I know I'm in a totally wrong place for something like this, but figured it wouldn't hurt to toss it out there and see what happens!
Thanks everyone!
Have a great day!
Beau

Hi guys. I've been playing on Jamkazam with a couple of other guys, and everything seems to be working. I'm using a Focusrite Interface. My question: Can I sometimes mute my inputs so the other guys can't hear me, but I can still play along and hear myself? Thanks

Audio dropouts when more than 2 particpants in a session - HELP! |

So here's my/our scenario: I have a band with 4 members. We have been using Jamkazam for about 2 months. We have had varying levels of success with the usual glitches here and there. We have all acquired and setup our own audio interfaces. We are using a mix of Behringer UMC202HD, Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, and Motu or Presonus (our keyboardist, not exactly sure which one he uses). We all downloaded the respective audio interfaces' ASIO driver from manufacturers' website. Our respective audio gear setups went smoothly with both I/O and latency in the green. From a strictly audio and latency perspective everything is functioning perfectly. Each of us is able to do a solo session, play alone with metronome, and play alone with jamtracks with no problems. Stats are usually all green for all of us when we're all working. We do also utilize video in our sessions and for the most part it works fine. As of late, we have been experiencing one or more of our personal live track boxes going grey and then the loss of audio from other participants. This only tends to happen when more than 2 of us are in a session. Two participants and any of the 2 of us, everything is cool. Funny thing, when this happens none of us lose video from the others, only the audio. "Resync" will usually get all participants audio going again but usually only for a few seconds to a couple minutes. Below is a list of what we've tried recently to get things working per information gathered from other forum threads and some of the youtube tutorials.
- Tried "Network Test". Obviously not working and I saw where the app developers know this and may remove it soon.
- Changing Outgoing Music Bitrate and Network Packet Rate. Sometimes this seems to fix things but only temporarily. We've tried making the same change for all 4 of us and individually.
- We haven't messed with Audio Frame Size since it's defaulted to 2.5ms for all of us already.
- We all have our IP Protocol set to IPV4 since we're all using Verizon Fios and Verizon does not support IPV6 yet.
- We have our Network Port Preferences set to "Always use same set of UDP ports" and keep the default of starting port 12000.
- A few of us have done Port Forwarding on our routers. We set it up with ports 12000-12010 forwarded to the IP address of the PC or laptops where the Jamkazam app resides. This did not seem to do anything to fix our problems. Although one of us never did the port forwarding. Those of us who did this also rebooted the router afterwards. Most of us have deleted the port forwarding at this point (i.e. put it back the way it was before).
- A few of us have confirmed that UPnP is enabled on our routers which is the default for Verizon Fios routers for past few years.
It seems to be that this is a network issue since one or more of us are losing the incoming stream from other participants and vice versa. If anybody out there, and especially the app developers, have any insights/suggestions/solutions/comments that may help us it would be greatly appreciated. We are very close to throwing in the towel/giving up but we all really want to make this work for obvious reasons.

Presonus AudioBox intermittent distortion, comes and goes |

I'd like to think that I know a thing or two about digital audio etc, but this is driving me mad!
I get intermittent "distortion cloud" with the Presonus AudioBox and Jamkazam.
Things sound good and fine for a few minutes and then i get about 10-15secs of the cloud.
Input/output jitter waver, but not wildly...a bit in the yellow.
Not sure what to do to alleviate the issue.
Anyone have similar issues?
Using this setup with soft-codecs like Zoom etc, sounds fine with no intermittent garbage.
Definitely related to Jamkazam and this interface.

Best way to play backing tracks |

In a two-person session today we noticed that the guy on the other end could hear my MP3 player running a backing track from my phone into my interface and then into jamkazam, but when I started playing my guitar which is using a second jamkazam track it tended to drown out the backing song.... it seems like all of the various volume and pan controls that you see in the JK interface only affect what you are hearing with no ability to adjust the balance between multiple sound sources as heard by your friends....... and on their end they seem to only have a master volume in terms of what you're sending them.....
this could very well be an interface problem since I'm using a Roland HS 5 session mixer that I don't fully understand yet as my interface....
the Roland has four stereo channels and those all show up in jamkazam via the asio driver.

I had a dream..... |

I had a dream .
I dreamed of opening Jamkazam and realizing that all users had correctly updated their profile and it was possible to immediately see in which part of the world they lived and which instrument they played. I dreamed that it was possible to identify the session to enter knowing already before that there were no people from the other end of the world with a total latency of 80-100-200 ms or others playing the same instrument (especially if bass or drums). I dreamed that all users had now understood that it is essential to have an audio interface with a latency possibly not exceeding 10 ms (there are many on the market also very cheap) and that you cannot connect if you have an internet connection from the 90s or WiFi. I dreamed that all users avoided entering sessions where the majority of the musicians were from another continent because they understood that in these cases there is no possibility of having acceptable latencies and one can only play in an uncoordinated way. I dreamed that users had understood that entering a session that is going well by bringing in their own 80-100-200 ms of delay can only destroy it by increasing all the latencies of others musicians and also adding annoying noises. I dreamed that everyone understood that sessions with 12 people cannot be done. In short, I dreamed that all users of this wonderful program called Jamkazam committed themselves to rational and correct behavior in everyone's interest.
… .. Then I woke up….
