HELP NEEDED--How to set up port forwarding: Apple AirPort Extreme
Posted by: nycbassguy@gmail.com - 06-24-2020, 08:46 PM - Forum: Help with Live Jamming Sessions - Replies (2)

Hi everyone, hoping to get some help here. Joined JK a few weeks ago and had limited success with audio. I've combed thru every available resource i can find on this site and others, but i'm still having difficulty setting up port forwarding on my airport to solve the 'no audio' issues i always run into. also getting the warning that my network changes packets/port numbers when i boot up the app. here's what i have so far:

GEAR
iMac running 10.12.6
Apogee ONE interface
Apple Airport Extreme (w/Ethernet)

-- on PortChecker, the ISPs match so that's 👍
-- Router Mode: DHCP and NAT
-- Port Settings: I set up an IPv4 port mapping setting and named it JK (duh)
Public UDP Ports: 12000
Public TCP Ports: 12000
Private IP Address: 10.0.1.201
Private UDP Ports: 12000
Private TCP Ports: 12000

-- under Network Options i have NAT Port Mapping Protocol enabled
-- the 'Enable default host at:' field is not checked and no value is entered

One of my questions is how to enable a RANGE of ports on the airport, i.e. 12000-12010

Anything I need to do, besides get a JOB????

Thanks in advance--

Leo

  Recording volume very faint
Posted by: stephen.kitcher@gmail.com - 06-24-2020, 06:30 PM - Forum: Miscellaneous - Replies (5)

When in a Jamkazam session I can record with or without video. However, the sound is really faint when I record with the video also switched on, but the audio sound is really good if I record without video. How can I get better audio when recording using the video facility please? The volume levels are all up as is the microphone level just avoiding the clipping. But I've proved the audio is crystal clear if only I don't record with the video option, but the group I am in wants to see it as well. Thanks if you can answer this please.

Main limiting factor CPU ,memory or hard drive
Posted by: carvinae185@gmail.com - 06-24-2020, 02:33 PM - Forum: Miscellaneous - Replies (4)

Assuming your internet latency and so forth has been optimized what is the main limiting factor that might cause the jamkazam program to hesitate as you move from one menu item to another during a session? as far as I can see on my laptop it's using about 290 megabytes of memory in a Solo session...

My six-year-old laptop only has 4GB of memory so I'm considering upgrading that to 8 or 16 , or going to a solid state drive.... I don't think it would be worth trying to change the CPU in that but I really need to know beyond IO and latency where does the program stress a computer the most

BOSS GT-8 Guitar Effects Processor as audio interface with Mac?
Posted by: milmorguy - 06-24-2020, 01:40 PM - Forum: Help with Audio Gear - Replies (4)

Is it possible to use a BOSS GT-8 Guitar Effects Processor as an audio interface with a Mac which uses the Core Audio driver?

I have read that ASIO, for example, is aimed at bypassing the Windows system and that Mac needs no such assistance.

The digital output from the GT-8 is EIAJ CP1201, S/P DIF phono, but I see adaptors to USB are available.

Thanks, Mike

recorded audio - open a recording
Posted by: Chatmax - 06-24-2020, 01:23 PM - Forum: Help with Windows Client Problems - Replies (5)

JamKazam Client:
recorded audio - open a recording

I have in my "Windows 10" folder

% UserProfile% \ Music \ JamKazam \ Recordings \ d568c781-1624-4a35-8262-8e806b2fc74a

all files deleted by hand,
since it was already over 2 GB and I don’t need it anymore.

The corresponding, correct message is:
"The recording is missing all tracks".
Yeah - That is right, but how can I remove these red "zombie" lines
in the "open a recording" window?

Now I have these red "zombie" file ads in "Recordings".
How do I get this away?

See the screenshot.

Thanks for your help.

  23rd June - new upgrade
Posted by: Chris Frost - 06-24-2020, 11:56 AM - Forum: Help with Windows Client Problems - Replies (12)

I received an email message about a new upgrade - and see a post identifying the changes in the forums.

The post message says that ALL USERS MUST UPGRADE

... but provides no instructions on how to do so.  I dont see a ‘upgrade’ option in any of the menus (as you do with other apps).  Do we manually uninstall and re-download? .... there are lots of musicians out here - not so many IT specialists

Thanks

Can only see one of my friend's tracks
Posted by: Johnhooker - 06-24-2020, 02:58 AM - Forum: Help with Network Gear - Replies (2)

I hagot my focusrite interface to work and it's great fun.  It really works.  I hope this lasts forever.  I only have one problem and it's a small one-when playing with my friend, I can only see one of  his two tracks at my end.  I can see his electric guitar track, but not his microphone.  He has the same problem at his end.  At my end I can see both my tracks.  Can anyone suggest a way to fix this?

Thanks for any help.

  Audio Help

Hi!  I'm trying to get my kiddo up and running on this for voice lessons and I'm running into some trouble.

When I am using a web browser our headphones are recognized.
When I use the app, they are not.

Brand new Windows 10 laptop (purchased just for this - ha ha); plugged direct to modem via ethernet cable; headphones (with mic) plugged directly into the laptop.

Can anyone offer any suggestions?

  Client won't run on Windows
Posted by: BluesHeron - 06-23-2020, 09:32 PM - Forum: Help with Windows Client Problems - Replies (3)

The Jamkazam client has quit working on my Windows 10 64bit machine.
It was working before but now it either just hangs on white screen or I get the following error message then it crashes:

An audio driver is preventing JamKazam from processing audio. Please move any USB-connected audio gear to a different USB port,
or reinstall any drivers for your audio gear. When done, restart the JamKazam application.
(Could not initialize PortAudio library: Internal PortAudio error)

Anyone else getting this error? I have tried moving to a different USB port. Installed the latest Asio driver for my interface.
Tried changing clock rate, neither 44.1 nor 48 kHz works
I am using a Behringer XR18 audio interface. Windows 10 64bit

Any suggestions? Getting very frustrated with Jamakzam. It was working, now I can't even open it.

Hi
I have used JK since March, after the usual set up glitches (mostly self inflicted) the system runs very well I am able to connect and play with friends 70 to 80 miles away (in UK) with session latency of around 20 milliseconds, this gives an easy feel to playing, feels comfortable. We play with a drummer from Florida then session latency 68 to 80 milliseconds, this is noticeable. In trying to lower latency as much as possible I have noticed that when a session I am in is recorded my track shows as stereo when downloaded, others tracks are mono, would this add to latency due to processing two tracks for me. My setup is Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 3rd gen, 48000 sample rate, 48 buffer size audio frame size 1ms using latest Focusrite drivers. Jamkazam is a brilliant platform and has been and still will be well used, even when our current crisis ends. Bernard.
