Hello! Jamkazam is amazing but I'm still trying to get the best connection possible. Some advice please!
Question 1 - My 'Audio Bw Tx' is red, showing as 143k. So my audio is glitchy on the other side, to my friend. How can I improve this? It should not be my internet connection as I have cable internet with approx 30mbs upload. I am also connected via LAN cable as is my friend. Are there any settings in JamKazam that can improve this? I've tried setting the outgoing audio stream from 256k, to 320k to 512k but it had no effect.
Question 2 - the internet latency is about 8oms between my friend and me. WE are both on LAN and about 200km from each other, in Victoria, Australia. I've done a dslreports speed test and I think its because my friend has high 'buffer bloat'. We are in Australia and he is connected on a 25mbs/5mbs 'FTTN' plan which uses copper wires in the network. I am assuming the actual internet connection may be the issue there. Any idea how to fix? Could perhaps a new router with QoS somehow help?
I've been having ongoing issues with using Zoom to show off JK to some local frustrated musicians using my Windows 10 box. Everything works fine except I can't transmit the audio through Zoom and yes, I do know to check the "share computer audio" box when screensharing. JK says this will work much better on a Mac. Does anyone have direct experience doing this on a Mac? Basically I want to use Zoom to show a live session to other musicians and ultimately to a workshop I'm going to organize, and I want them to be able to hear the session audio.
Why not just use JK? Because I'm still going to have to help each person configure it on their machine, and many of the group are computer-phobic. I'd like to be able to just sit at my desktop and share the JK world with them without having to get each one set up first.
If Mac users have success I'll go out and get a Mac, I just don't want to spend $$$ if it won't make a difference, since I've already invested in a high end Windows 10 laptop for my setup.
Has anyone had any success with this on Windows, or do I have to invest in a Mac? EVEN IF I use phone for Zoom audio, I've found that I can't pipe the JK audio through Zoom, so when doing a live demo for newbies, they aren't able to hear it through Zoom. And yes, I know how to screenshare and have checked the "share computer audio" box on the share window.
A second problem that has developed since I attempted to run JK and Zoom together is JK will no longer accept audio input, whether or not Zoom is running. I'm working on a Win10 machine that I just use for demos because I won't risk the one I have working with my audio interface. Before I tried with Zoom, I was successfully getting into sessions with my husband on our primary JK computer, and we could talk through JK--him using his music microphone and me using the built-in computer microphone. Since I tried with Zoom, now the computer doesn't pick up my audio in JK; but it does pick it up for other apps, so it's not the native Windows driver.
For JK I'm using ASIOS4ALL for the driver, and I've got two configs; one using this for input & output; the other one explicitly picking the computer built-in microphone for input but A4A for output. Neither works for audio input whether or not Zoom is running. I get audio output regardless - I can hear it directly from the computer or in the headphones, but it doesn't transmit over Zoom.
Anyone have either a similar problem or success? I'm on the verge of buying a Mac because JK support says that will work better, anyone have any experience using Zoom & JK on a Mac? I'm also going to ask the question on the Mac section but thought I'd ask here too.
I am getting barely adequate microphone gain from my Behringer UWC 404HD. I am using a Shure SM57 dynamic microphone and need to turn the gain knob to maximum to hear myself when not direct. The mic has an XLR cable and on instrument setting. Is this typical, or is there a problem with the interface box.
help, new to this! when i plug a mic into input 1 of my audio interface jamkazam has no problem with it. so far so good. when i plug a keyboard into input 2 i get silence. and yes, i have set up the second channel on jamkazam. any ideas anyone?
help. new to this. when i plug my synth into my mac via usb (ie midi) jamkazam gives a weedy sine wave synth sound. when i select a plug in sound in my daw i get that sound plus jamkazams weedy synth. anyone know how i can get rid of this?
Together with a friend I tried to get video up and running in our JamKazam setup.
My side:
Smart phone with DroidCam Software as a camera and internal camera of my laptop (we tested both, but same result).
On my friend's side:
Internal camera of his laptop
If we switch on video in our session, on our side we both do see the video of our own camera without any problem. However, instead of the video of the "other side" we both do only see a plain white rectangle.
If one of us or both switch off the own camera the white rectangle disappears on the other side, and if we switch on the camera again the white rectangle shows up again on the other side. So, obviously there goes some video signal to the counterpart, but just a white screen without any content.
We actually tested all kinds of resolutions for the stream without any positive effect.
Any idea how to fix that problem and get an actual video of the other side displayed?
First of all, hello! My name is Christopher Overstreet and I am a piano teacher and composer multi-media programmer artist guy. I used JamKazam a little bit over a decade ago? And now it is critical to use it again. Thank you for resuming your efforts!
Maybe this is a feature request, just want to make sure I'm not overlooking something... I'd like to be able to switch between camera inputs during a session. This is often needed for teaching. I have a work around, but it requires running more stuff/gear. I send from OBS to JamKazam via NDI, and switch my inputs in OBS. It works when it works. Also, besides being simple/useful it might help with camera problems like this one...
If I am using my phone with EpocCam or NDIhx, etc. and my phone battery dies, or app crashes. It will not reconnect to JamKazam during a session. I imagine as an OK programmer this might be able to solve both problems.
Anyways THANK YOU! This is my first post to the forum. I am finding JamKazam as I slowly integrate it into my teaching is making me not want to quit teaching! Zoom lessons are torture.
I work in a university environment where more than one user will access a computer.
I am having an issue with this scenario.
Fresh install of Catalina (10.15.6). Install JamKazam-1.0.3711.dmg on the only admin account. The application runs as expected.
Log in as another user, JamKazam will not launch. Have attempted with a second admin and non-admin user.
I have read over the forum solutions for similar issues.
I am logging completely out of the other account. Only one user is logged in at the time of the error.
The Facebook plugin is not on my system.
I have attempted a fresh install from the other user account. Same result.
I have attempted a uninstall AppCleaner. Same result.
I have attempted a fresh install of Catalina, repeated the above steps. Same result.
Below is the log

I've been wrestling with JK over multiple sessions during the past few weeks. Last week I was doing a test with a friend in San Francisco (I'm based in the UK), and despite the fact we both had fast wired internet connections running, the session latency had us way up around 150ms which was obviously unusable. We've tried at different times of day & night with the same results. We also had a session where we added a friend in Arizona. He was able to sync pretty well with the guy in San Francisco.
So, my question is, does the latency naturally increase with physical distance? If so, can I assume that a transatlantic session is not a viable option at this point in time?
