  Live Tracks labels
Posted by: occimoron - 05-31-2020, 07:39 PM - Forum: Help with Mac Client Problems - Replies (1)

I set up my audio gear (Mackie Onyx 1640i digital mixer) with several tracks in the account window, labeling each channel with the corresponding instrument. But in the session window, some of the instrument channels are labeled incorrectly, i.e., the bass and one vocal channel are switched, the drum mic is labeled bass. I traced each channel to the board and it's all correct, and shows correctly in the account window, but not in the sessions. Any solutions? Thanks

  Problems Connecting Electronic Drums
Posted by: Fennaric - 05-31-2020, 06:06 PM - Forum: Help with Audio Gear - Replies (5)

Hello All,

Can anyone advise, or point me towards advice on connecting e-drums with Jamkazam. It's an Alesis DM8 kit that I have been trying to connect from the 1/8th headphones out on the drum brain to 1/4 inch jack in on a UMC 202HD interface. USB from 202HD to pc. Also a microphone for speaking into the 2nd 202HD input. On the rare occasions it does work the sound is very low and even minor volume increases cause distortion. Other occasions when I don't hear anything at all myself through the headphones but drums can be heard by other players. Other times everything packs up altogether. Am wondering if the connection between brain and 202HD needs to be from one or both, "main out", L+R, of the brain rather than the headphones out.

All advice appreciated.

Latency using Sky Broadband in UK
Posted by: mark@butterill.plus.com - 05-31-2020, 05:27 PM - Forum: Help with Network Gear - Replies (4)

Any UK users had problems with high latency using Sky as ISP? Just getting our 6 member band on the go, five of us are up & running very well with a variety of Windows PCs & Macs and internet providers, including one using Sky. Together we get 20 - 25 msec total latency. Our 6th member uses an iMac & has Sky as ISP, her audio system is great but internet latency is horrible, wanders a lot but overall latency sits between 90 and 120 msec. has anybody found this and fixed it? Unfortunately she uses her Mac for home working and I can't risk digging into the router admin setup to ensure port forwarding etc. as that risks her not being able to do her job. Sorry it's vague, kind of hoping for a user who's found a very simple fix. If not it's probably a change of broadband provider that we'll go for.

client lost sync with server (but the beat went on)
Posted by: Zlartibartfast - 05-31-2020, 04:57 AM - Forum: Help with Mac Client Problems - No Replies

got a chance to try out the new client update today - mixed results. still with many remote musicians I get "no audio" but with my "local" music partner the session was very good, until after about one hour I noticed that I was missing from the session participant list, though everything sounded fine. I was unable to get the "resync" button to respond, but we kept on playing anyway 'cause it was still sounding good. when I wanted to leave the session is when I got a ton of errors stating that the server was not getting sync from me, along with a bunch of ERROR n/a messages. and I had to quit JK to get the errors to stop.

Also, for anyone who is into coding this application, you might want to read this from my console log:

5/30/20 21:17:37.255 JamKazam[6763]: 21:17:37.254 WARNING:  140: This application, or a library it uses, is using the deprecated Carbon Component Manager for hosting Audio Units. Support for this will be removed in a future release. Also, this makes the host incompatible with version 3 audio units. Please transition to the API's in AudioComponent.h.

The system I am using now is a Macbook Pro 2012, OSX 10.11.6, JK client 1.0.3685, AI is a Saffire Pro14 on firewire

  JamKazam Youtube festival

I watched this with interest...and my main takeaway was:  Where did the latency go?  All of the performers were in perfect sync with nary a glitch.  In real life, over even the best of Internet connections, this is rarely possible.  I'd love to know how to make it happen!

  Audio quits after ~10 seconds
Posted by: mcoulson - 05-30-2020, 06:52 PM - Forum: Help with Audio Gear - Replies (1)

My sound (headphones) quits after a few seconds - i can hear my bandmates but then it goes in and out until finally nothing. Sounds to me like there's interference that eventually takes over.

background

  • MacOS with scarlet focusrite 2i2
  • have been playing successfully for weeks with same setup
  • upgraded to most recent version today - may 30
  • bandmates can hear me fine, i just can't hear them (after first few seconds, where sound goes in and out)
  • can play solo session no problem with audio
  • i tried using internal mac mic - same result
  • tried reconfiguring all audio - same result
  • i tried de-installing / reinstalling - same result
  • i ensured all my "security and privacy > accessibility" settings are correct
  • i have searched the posts in the forum
help! thanks

Bass Guitar / Electric Guitar Icons
Posted by: plethoraguy@yahoo.com - 05-30-2020, 05:24 PM - Forum: New Feature Requests - Replies (1)

The Bass Guitar / Electric Guitar Icons are pretty similar in the find open sessions page.   Could one of them be changed to make it easier to tell if a session already has a bass player in it?

Two People Fine, Three Static City
Posted by: Billinbrasil - 05-29-2020, 11:50 PM - Forum: Help with Live Jamming Sessions - Replies (7)

My trio is trying without success to put together a JamKazam session. When any two of us are in the session, everything is perfect, no latency and crystal clear audio. However, whenever the third player enters, all static hell breaks loose. Everything becomes totally unintelligible, just white noise static.

We’ve switched the player who is out of the session and it makes no difference, any two are fine. It’s only when the third joins that the problem appears.

Any ideas??

TIA
