  Distortion in audio files (backing tracks)

Hi there,

me and my jam partner are having problems with audio files (backing tracks) now for a while.
Latency and jitter seem to be o.k. but when starting an audio file the result is a cracking noise instead of the original audio content. We tried several things without success:

  • reducing the file size of audio files, no improvement

  • deleting any files inside the file manager, no improvement

  • changing audio bitrate from 2.5 to 2ms (higher values with too much latency), no improvement

  • turning off video, no improvement

By the way, instrument signals (sax, guitar) are fine, but a lot of network error messages occur during the sessions, not knowing what the reason for that is.
 
A little help would be nice.

  • 2 jammers, gold members

  • location Germany

  • jam time sunday 6.00 p.m.

  • internet with 390 Mbps upstream, 227 Mbps downstream (fibre)

  • lan, no wifi

  • macOS 10.14.6

  • mac mini late 2012, 2,3 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB Ram

  • focusrite solo audio interface

Ok, so I normally purchase my backing tracks from a competing site as they have more selections with reliable quality. However I have found a few on JamKazam that I preferred and wanted to support their site as well. I purchased "Daydream Believer" and discovered that the Count in is totally out of tempo and unusable. I sent an email to support and JamKazam responded that they were no longer monitoring that email address. What gives? I purchased something and expect it to work. The email stated if the reason I contacted was other than support I could send to info@jamkazam.com. If someone is willing to pay for something you need to make sure they get what they pay for. I expect to have an option of "Count IN" that works and is in tempo. I could try to fix it myself but I'm paying for something that should work. Come on guys! Fix this or I will no longer be able to consider supporting your site. Geeesh!

Hi, everyone. Jamkazam worked flawlessly on my Windows 10 computer, but I recently built a new machine and am now using Windows 11. Since my re-install of Jamkazam, I sound very static-y to the other players in a session. However, I sound fine to myself on my end. Do you have any suggestions about why this may be happening, and what settings I need to check to rectify the situation. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

last period I used jk on regular basis; more times a week, I have been away from jk for some time. When starting again we do have video connection (2users) but no audio connection. sound from microphone gets into audio interface; green? leds light up when sound. when ticking on microphone with finger I hear that via headphone. Can the Mac OS big sur 11.6.2 be a source of issue?
what remedy can be suggested?

Hi,
I have a Roland TDK17 into a mixer that has audio inputs to my Motu M4.  Jamkazam seems to freeze on me from time to time.  In addition, my latency on JK is 11 but only 2.9 with Ableton.  Something is messed up in JK!  USBC connection to the mac from Motu.  How do I fix the latency and why is JK freezing up?  Thanks.

I have a Roland TD 17KVX and want to use a microphone as well on JK.  Is it best to use a mixer and audio into the Roland for the mic then out to the Mac computer with USB from the Roland or audio out from the Roland to a Motu M4 along with the mic then USB to the Mac.  I would like to hear my playing from JK rather than local monitor so using the TD 17 is not great as I cannot figure out how to disable local monitoring when headphones are in the Roland.  Using the Motu, I use that headphone jack but still do not hear myself back from JK.  PLease help!
