Most recent Dec 8th JK build - Abnormally HIgh CPU
Posted by: dasp61 - 12-09-2020, 06:15 PM - Forum: Help with Windows Client Problems - Replies (8)

Good Afternoon.

A few of our band members just updated to the most recent Dec 8th build of JK.
The client app running idle or in solo/private session is using way to much CPU.
33% to 40% now, last build was 5 to 7%.

I'm running on an Intel® Core™ i5-7260U CPU @ 2.20GHz  2.21 GHz 16M
Presonus 24C. JK and UC only, no other services.
Fully capable.

My collogues running i7 Gen8's, all having the same high CPU usage issues.

Please advise.

Thanks
dasp61

Can only hear one other musician in group
Posted by: mlynch66 - 12-08-2020, 05:15 PM - Forum: Help with Live Jamming Sessions - Replies (9)

I have a Mackie fx12 v2 board with the built in audioface running into a Macbook air. I can only hear my drummer! He can hear everyone else and they can hear me with the exception of the sax player who sounds like squi$ng water when he plays or talks. Very frustrating! Have spent much time trying to fix this. Did the Port Forwarding thing on my router but did not change anything. Had the same setup last winter and it worked fine with the same folks. Restarted many times, tried different hosts and even uninstalled/reinstalled  software. No change. I have good internet speed and good numbers with latency and jitter. About to drop $10,000 on heating my barn and have live practice! please help I would appreciate it.

  hearing other inputs exp internet
Posted by: Ian (France) - 12-08-2020, 08:58 AM - Forum: Miscellaneous - Replies (2)

hello, I'm in Miscellaneous because I guess this isn't relevant to jamkazam, and I don't really know how to search this, I hope my thread subject is clear enough.

I very recently got my gear driver in order, moving from asio4all to the right asio driver, and found myself dealing with track configuration which I don't recall before.... but maybe that isn't relevant.

once the dust settled, I'm making an association here, I found that I could no longer hear other input through my headphones when connected to my audio interface - for example, I can't hear anything on youtube, so I have now have to plug my headphones into another port.... is this normal? is there a way I can configure the audio interface to act as my normal soundcard again? I suppose that is what I want.

thanks in advance

JK crashes (Not Responding) every time I try to connect to any session
Posted by: rickawells - 12-08-2020, 04:53 AM - Forum: Help with Network Gear - Replies (4)

I was playing with my bandmates for about two months then… JK pushed an update a few weeks ago now JK crashes (Not Responding) every time I try to connect to any session.
I have a Lenovo Thinkstation workstation class computer with an Intel  Xeon ES-1630 v3 3.7 GHZ  Quad Core CPU – 48 GB of RAM – SSD RAID 10 drive array – latest version of Windows 10 Pro OS 64 Bit OS and a Nvidia P6000 Video card.  My network router is a Synology AC 2600 and a 1GB PakEdge switch.  My internet connection is 600 down and 40 up with a Static IP address from Spectrum.  Additionally, I am using a Logitec Meetup Video Teleconferencing box for video.
I have tried everything I can think of.  I uninstalled JK and deleted all the leftover files and installed a fresh install.  I checked for updates. I tried 3 different interfaces.  A Steinberg UR-44 II, a Zoom UAC-2 (USB-3) and a Roland Quad Capture.  They all yield the same results.
JK completes the media relay server search process successfully every time.
Additionally, I tried my Laptop.  Lenovo Thinkstation workstation class laptop with similar specs and it does the exact same thing.  Crashes (Not Responding) when I try to connect to a session.
Anyone have any ideas?

gear driver and latency (and frame size)
Posted by: Ian (France) - 12-07-2020, 01:38 PM - Forum: Help with Audio Gear - Replies (5)

I'm sure this subject is dealt with in one way or another here there and everywhere, and I've looked but get confused, sorry :/

simply, trying to improve my audio profile I have found that....

driver wdm -> frame size 10 and latency 4
driver asio4all -> I can lower the frame size to 1 but the latency rises to 12 (if I leave the frame size at 10 the latency rises to 30 !)

I thought that asio is the way to go but that doesn't seem to be the case.

I suspect there must be another parameter I'm not manipulating..... help, ideas please, thanks in advance

  Windows updates and JK sessions
Posted by: carvinae185@gmail.com - 12-07-2020, 01:36 PM - Forum: Help with Windows Client Problems - Replies (2)

Ran into this yesterday for the first time. My JK laptop is only turned on a couple of times per week so I got surprised by a big Windows feature update which hosed my session. I didn't know, at first, what was happening but JK was very slow to open, then wouldn't create a session, then would drop a session with "disconnected from server." Latency with jam buddies was ten times normal.
You can't realistically turn these updates off and limiting the "hours" only limits restarts, not downloading and installing of updates.
I'm going to try proactively installing them on days I don't jam as well as tweaking settings to get them over with as quickly as possible.

Unable to RSVS using client app on a Mac
Posted by: hafstang - 12-06-2020, 11:09 PM - Forum: Help with Mac Client Problems - No Replies

I am unable to RSVP for a session using the client app installed on my iMac.  When I attempt to do so, the app asks me to select an instrument among the list that is given, but the check boxes to select an instrument, are not there.  However, when I log into the web version of JK, I AM ABLE to RSVP because the check boxes appear in front of all the listed instruments, as they are supposed to.  I use client app for jamming.  It would be nice to be able to use it for RSVPing as well.  Advice welcome.
