What plan will, as close as possible, match the quality of the current free JK client we have been using?
Our band has been using JK for the last two years once a week for 3 hours.
Only in the past month or so have we been able to get through a practice session with little regards to latency.
Thx in advance for your response.
I have been using JamKazam for several months. Whenever I play in a session, the others describe a "crackling" distortion in my audio output. I do not hear it in my earbuds. Latency has not been a problem. My setup is:
MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, Early 2015) plugged in
MacOS Big Sur Version 11.01
Sterling Audio SL230MP Matched Pair mics
Earbuds
FocusRite Scarlett 2i2 audio interface
HyperDrive HD30F USB-C Hub
Ethernet cable -> Synology RT2600ac router -> D-Link DSL-520B ADSL2+ modem
(Would plug directly into modem, but it only has one output socket and I’d rather not unplug router)
Verizon DSL internet service
Other internet devices in airplane mode during JamKazam sessions.
Any suggestions/help would be appreciated. Note, fiberoptic internet service is not available in my area and I have heard that cable internet service has deteriorated.
When today's update loaded I saw a message to the effect of "my capabilities have been reduced to match my subscription plan'. Not sure what this means exactly since I never chose a subscription plan. My session tonight did not seem limited in any way.
Going to the JK website I see the (upcoming?) paid subscription plans. We all know this was inevitable and nobody begrudges JK for monetizing it's product.
However, I caution JK that they must hold up their end of the bargain once they start charging money. The JK platform has been crap for most of the past 2 months. JK has to do better. Nobody is going to be happy to be paying and still having problematic sessions where players can't join or hear each other or keep cra$ng.
You wouldn't put up with your email provider being unavailable or limited every 3rd time you used it. What happens when the platform is unavailable? Will JK provide refunds?
JamKazam must be serious about uptime and support. I hope they are paying attention.
I donated to JK's gofundme several times to help them along. But I hope they are not going to start charging us for the much-less-than-satisfactory experience we've all been suffering with for months. I will be happy to select a paid subscription plan if JK steps up to the plate and starts playing Subscription Platform Provider like the big boys. However, the platform as of late plus the lack of support, abundance of errors and issues, and the endless releases reeks of being an engineer-run company with no real quality assurance and is not ready for prime time. Think about getting a real CEO - he/she will understand customer satisfaction and friction-reduction.
I attempted to log into JK tonight and got a message that I needed to upgrade before I could log in. I accepted the upgrade. However, once it starts, I get a message saying "Another installation is in progress. You must complete that installation before continuing this one."
There is no other installation in progress. I've terminated the program entirely using Windows Task Manager, and the same thing occurs. Hitting "retry" doesn't work.
Do I need to uninstall the entire program and then reinstall everything as though I'm starting over? I can't think of anything else to try.
Hi, i also emailed the following request to support. Adding it hear as reference.
Hi JK Support.
Can you please make it so the Invite Friends window sorts A-Z? When inviting, it’s a hassle when scheduling or in a session and pulling friends in, they’re not where you expect them to be. It’s an unsorted/non-sortable list. Hopefully easy to do because I know you’re working on other stuff.
On a related note, for the Notifications sidebar pane; the Friends that populate there, the mouse-over does not bring up the Profile info. As it does in the Friends pane. Another hassle point to go to the Friends to view profile info.
Keep in mind the importance of both requests is because these features are heavily used while playing. The more time my hands are off the instrument to figure stuff out, the less I play. And, we don't want that.. do we? lol
Hi All,
I just set up audio successfully and I could hear the test chime in my headphones. But I can't hear my bass when its plugged into my interface. Should I be able to hear it before creating a session? I am totally new to this and am fairly technical, but can't figure this out.
What I want to is get it all working as solo before the whole band configures their own setups.
Help!
Thanks
Ian
I forgot to add, that when I create session it just takes me to audio setup.
I'm trying to load Jamkazam after downloading the executable. All that happens after clicking the OK to initiate the process is that a white box opens and nothing else happens. Running on a Dell computer, Windows 10 64 bit, so that requirement is covered. Any idea of what could be causing the problem?
I would like to use the internal soundcard of my laptop with ASIO4ALL. I installed ASIO4ALL on my laptop, JamKazam was not running when I installed ASIO4ALL.
Then I started JK and tried to setup the interternal soundcard of my laptop with ASIO4ALL as new gear. However "Test Results" shows "LATENCY Unknown" for the soundcard. When I open "ASIO SETTINGS" the soundcard is shown as "inactive", and I cannot activate either input or output in the ASIO settings (refer to attached screenshot). When I setup my internal soundcard with ASIO4ALL in my DAW and open the settings in that program the soundcard shows up as "active" right away, and setting up the soundcard as new gear in JK with the WDM driver works. So it looks like the issue is neither related to ASIO4ALL nor the soundcard.
Anybody any idea how to get the soundcard set up with ASIO4ALL in JK?
