battery does notcharge when in a Jamkazam session
Posted by: dandante - 12-12-2020, 09:28 PM - Forum: Help with Mac Client Problems - Replies (2)

When my MacBook pro (running Mojave 10.14.6) is plugged in to a charger, normally it shows (in the power settings which I have visible in the icon bar) that it is either fully charged or is charging.

This is a newer MBP with USB-C ports.

However, when I am in a Jamkazam session, while the settings still show that I am connected to a power adapter, the battery does not charge, and the percentage that the battery is charged keeps going down. So far I have not had to end a session because of running out of power, but that's only because the sessions ended before the battery ran down completely.

After shutting down Jamkazam, charging behavior returns to normal and the battery begins charging again.

Are there any settings I can change that will fix this?
If not consider this a bug report. I did contact the support email address and attached a support log but have not heard back.

Thanks.

download speed goes way down when using Jamkazam
Posted by: dandante - 12-12-2020, 09:21 PM - Forum: Help with Mac Client Problems - Replies (6)

I have had great success with Jamkazam up until recently.

But recently, I have had a serious problem.

Running JamKazam seems to reduce my download speed (as measured by speedtest.net using the centurylink server) which then causes audio from remote musicians to be very choppy and distorted. (This shows up inside JamKazam when I look at a remote musician’s statistics, I can see the Bw Rx (if I remember right) numbers go way down. But the problem is not actually with the remote musician but with my bandwidth. Note that this issue happens with multiple different remote musicians (each in one on one sessions with me).

I have CenturyLink Gigabit Fiber and normally download speeds are between 750 and 950 Mbps (same for upload speeds). Lately, when I am in a JamKazam session, my download speed goes down to as low as 20 Mbps (upload speed is not affected).

Other musicians can hear me just fine (I guess because my upload speed is not affected) but their sound comes in extremely choppy and distorted. Latency is not affected much so I can still play with others but it is about 97% less fun because they sound so bad.

I know it doesn’t seem like JamKazam could cause a reduction in download speed but this is the only time it happens. I wonder if it triggers some kind of throttling by the ISP?

Does anyone have any explanation for this? Eventually, after I shut down Jamkazam, my download speed returns to normal, sometimes I have to reboot my router, and it may take several hours.

This is on a MacBook pro running Mojave (10.14.6) with several of the most recent versions of Jamkazam, most recently Build 2.00 - "1.0.3733".

If it was not for this problem I would definitely become a paid subscriber, but Jamkazam is not super useful for me because of this issue.

Cpu lowers when audio file opened
Posted by: carvinae185@gmail.com - 12-12-2020, 03:29 PM - Forum: Help with Windows Client Problems - No Replies

Not sure if this some kind of java/windows interaction, but task manager was showing a certain CPU % usage by jamkazam.  Before yesterday's update, it was around 25-30%.  When I opened an audio backing track, that CPU dropped by half or more.  ???   And there was still just one JK entry in taskmanager.

input distorts on setup:Configure Tracks page
Posted by: CraigK - 12-11-2020, 11:15 PM - Forum: Help with Audio Gear - Replies (3)

I’m trying to set up my Electric Guitar input, using a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2. In Audio Gear setup when I'm on "Select & Test Audio Gear the guitar sounds fine (in only one channel). When I press next and go to the “Configure Tracks” page, the guitar is coming through both channels and is quite distorted (like a distortion box has been added).
All of the levels on the 2i2 box or in JamKazam are set quite low and there's not clipping showing at all. No matter how low I turn the imput I get the distortion.
If I proceed to step 5 (“turn off direct monitoring”), when I press play I hear the background tone clearly, but the guitar is still distorted.
This is not happening with  other software.
Any ideas?

  Additional Profile Attributes
Posted by: pkraiker - 12-10-2020, 11:12 PM - Forum: New Feature Requests - Replies (2)

Add a "Member since {date}" as a profile attribute. The # of friends they have gives a hint, it would be good to know how experienced people are with the platform. You could also include "Last seen on {date}" to reflect how active they are.

The ability to give recognition - a "like" or such - would be nice for a sense of community. Only positive ratings though! no need for thumbs down, if you don't like how they play or behave you will know not to play with them in the future.

Showing their level will also be useful to know in the new year.

A section on what gear they are using would also be good. It should include instruments & audio interface gear.

Cannot keep change in AudioBoxiTwo sample block size when using Jamkazam
Posted by: mcdon056@umn.edu - 12-10-2020, 03:56 PM - Forum: Help with Audio Gear - Replies (1)

I changed my PreSonus AudioBoxiTwo sample rate from 16 to 64 in both Universal Control and Studio One 4, but as soon as I open Jamkazam, they reset at 16. Let me know what you think.

Wednesday Dec 9th 7-9pm EST - Problems Abound
Posted by: SammerJammer - 12-10-2020, 02:05 AM - Forum: Help with Live Jamming Sessions - Replies (14)

All kinds of connection and audio issues in regular session with 4 participants. Crackling coming and going, volumes going in and out, audio dropping completely was experienced by each player at different times.

We were all using 256kbs and frame size of 2.5ms (we each turned up framesize from lower settings in the hope it would help). All network path settings were default.

JK at this moment is definitely not ready for primetime. Things had been better for the past couple of weeks but I'm afraid of what the remainder of this week holds after tonight's bad experience.

Am not going to be happy when I pay for this service and get a crappy experience like this.

  File Manager Function
Posted by: TWDay72 - 12-09-2020, 11:47 PM - Forum: New Feature Requests - Replies (2)

One of the more frustrating aspects of JK, for those of us who use the program for recording our sessions is the fact that the File Manager
isn't capable of much file management. A "simple" delete all feature would be terrific, to allow those of us who have taken everything we want from those recording sessions and would like to clear the deck for the next series of recording sessions.

As it is, I guess the only way to clear out months of backlogged discarded, missing, and/or forever pending session tracks is to close our Jamkazam account and start a new one. I have talked to more than a few JK users who do that fairly often. Seems almost like JK is asking people to reconsider their use of the program. Not a great marketing plan.

Violin Sounds like a Guitar with a Distortion Pedal
Posted by: Colin CFG - 12-09-2020, 10:12 PM - Forum: Help with Audio Gear - No Replies

Hello

Re: Violin Sounds like a Guitar with a Distortion Pedal

I am looking for advice on the audio settings for a violin.

At the present the violin sounds like a guitar with a distortion pedal!

I would rather be able to make the violin sound like a violin although this might have been different in my teenage years!

Thank you in advance.

Kind Regards
