  Looking for a pianist
Posted by: Summera - 06-13-2020, 04:13 AM - Forum: Miscellaneous - Replies (2)

Hey there, looking for a pianist to jam regularly with. I'm an alto with a smoky lower register, and I'd like to do some slowed down covers of pop songs a la Ella Eyre's We Don't Have to Take Our Clothes Off -

Ella Eyre: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8iwmdq_clSQ
VS
Original: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWZisnZ-RGE

I'm also into doing jazz versions of modern songs like PostModern Jukebox -

...but that's a project for more people of course.

Anyway, if this is you, please hit me up!

  Network error message
Posted by: incrediblesax - 06-13-2020, 12:33 AM - Forum: Help with Mac Client Problems - Replies (1)

I'm also a Mac user getting this Network error message:
"Independent mapping, independent filter, random port, hairpin"
Based on jamjam Administrator’s post, I’ve done the following:

• Under my Apple Airport Express router, “Enable NAT Port Mapping Protocol” is CHECKED on.

• Called my ISP (Spectrum) and was told I do indeed have a public IP address assigned to my router.

• Added JamKazam to my list of allowed apps in my Firewall.

After all this, tried to start sessions and it still does not work, still getting the same error message:
"Independent mapping, independent filter, random port, hairpin”.

Please help. Thank you!

Purchased content doesn't show up in Jamtracks list of songs

I ordered many tracks, but some of them didn't download to my system. Huh

  Join as fan

I wanted to show a friend what it was like to play over jamkazam.  I was playing duets with another friend and wanted her to join as a fan to hear what we could do.  She didn't have good equipment yet.  We couldn't figure out how she could get on line with us just to chat and listen.  How would she  do that?

Thumbs Down help! Static and popping from my mic in all recordings
Posted by: jasmine@jasminesandler.com - 06-12-2020, 02:36 AM - Forum: Help with JamTracks - Replies (8)

I am the singer in my band. I use a Blue condenser mic and focusrite scarlett solo. In our weekly jam sessions my mic sounds fine but when I check the recording the instruments sound fine but all over my voice is static buzz and popping. I tried chaning via the audio booster in jamkazam the bit rate speeds and frames and adjusted all volume levels with a number of combinations and recording still sounds bad. Now I checked and the local recording of just me is fine it is the RT MIX where this happens so this has to be a Jamkazam issue. What do I do?

Things I Would Like to Delete
Posted by: TWDay - 06-11-2020, 08:54 PM - Forum: New Feature Requests - No Replies

There are two frustrating "features" to JamKazam.

1) Session recordings can not be deleted. Not only does this unnecessarily clutter up the JamKazam server or where ever these recordings are stored, but it makes figuring out what is good and what is useless in File Manager difficult.-to-impossible. It only makes sense that the person who asked for the recording be allowed to delete it. AND have it stay deleted.

2) Likewise, for the "Featured Sessions" screen inside the Start A Session option. Weirdly, old sessions listing only the originator apparently stay in that list indefinitely. They can not be deleted by the "Session Organizer" even if the only person on the RSVP list is the Session Organizer. More useless clutter.

  So Many Users Named "Anonymous"
Posted by: Zlartibartfast - 06-11-2020, 08:32 PM - Forum: New Feature Requests - No Replies

no friends, no followers, no recordings, no sessions

filling up space

I'm trying to find musicians who are ACTIVE on JamKazam, not NULL or ZOMBIE accounts

Let's clean this up, OK?

I'm glad that my account from 2015 was still alive in 2020 when I returned to JK, but hey - there's got to be a limit on how long an account can be stale and still be listed.....

addendum - I see that when browsing the list of musicians, one sometimes finds the same account repeatedly in the list. This makes the process of finding a given musician VERY frustrating - almost a total waste of time <grumble>

approvaLrequired ??? (I was invited tho...)
Posted by: nyCecilia - 06-11-2020, 06:53 PM - Forum: Help with Live Jamming Sessions - Replies (5)

Hi, newbie here (of course) but I've already searched the forum and can't seem to find anyone reporting this issue.

I've been invited to a session... the host and I have chatted via JamKazam so I know that things are up and running.

I RSVPd to the session.  The host accepted my RSVP.  I tried to get in, and got the message "approvaLrequired".

What does this mean?  As I said, the host and I tried it out prior to the session, so we know we can at least chat.  Host invited me, approved me.  Then invited me again.  Each time I get the same message, with no clue as to how to proceed to get approval for a session I've been invited to.

I tried to check latency to see if this was an issue.  When I set it up this morning, the test came back fine (obviously, as we were able to be in a session together and chat).  Now when I go to check the network, I get the message No Test Servers Found.  This appears to be common and according to the posts I read does not indicate that there is suddenly a problem where there once was none.

Please advise.  TIA!

Cecilia Smile

  tascam us 1x2 set up
Posted by: tomm - 06-11-2020, 02:24 PM - Forum: Help with Audio Gear - Replies (8)

Frustrated setting up a tascam 1x2 AI with Windows 10. Also tried a Berhinger 1x2 with negative results. Down loaded the 1x2 driver.  No audio in either solo or session mode.

Wink Possible Solution - No Audio from others, Router config error message
Posted by: KennyO - 06-11-2020, 01:02 PM - Forum: Help with Live Jamming Sessions - Replies (2)

Symptoms:

  • You can hear yourself
  • You can’t hear audio from others in session
  • You appear greyed out in other participant’s clients
  • Sometimes it looks like you have 100% packet loss
  • Everyone gets popup window with router error message (...other members can’t hear you, check your router settings or reboot router…)
Possible Solution:
If your interface has a s/w control panel, launch it before starting Jamkazam.

Description:
Most audio interfaces come with software and drivers you have to install, either on a Mac or Windows PC. When you load the drivers, usually an interface control panel application is also installed. It allows you to control specific parameters on your interface, or maybe control the volume levels of the input and output channels.

For example, I have a Resident Audio Thunderbolt interface connected to a Mac. When I installed the drivers it also installed a simple software app control panel that allows me to change sample rate and output levels.

Some friends I jam with bought Mackie Artist 1-2 USB interfaces to connect to Mac’s or PC’s. When they installed the drivers a separate s/w control panel was also installed.

In all cases, even after installing the drivers, and on both Mac and Windows, we experienced these symptoms if we didn't start the control panel first. Each member in the session started the audio interface control panels and restarted JK and the symptoms cleared and they could get audio from the others.

If your interface has a s/w control panel, launch it before starting Jamkazam. Otherwise you may experience the symptoms described above.
