  Video While Jamming
Posted by: Doug N. - 08-04-2020, 06:01 PM - Forum: Help with Live Jamming Sessions - Replies (5)

I've been using JK regularly for the last four to five months. I'm very familiar with all the requirements - wired, audio interface, etc. The last two months a group of nine of us have been jamming successfully every Saturday, all abiding by the rules. We are all within the same geographical area. We go for a couple hours with little latency and play and sing the songs we love. It's great fun and a nice substitute for when we all used to get together in a circle and sing these same songs. Here's the rub: There's no way video works with this. We've learned to keep video off until the end so we briefly can see each other to say "hello" and socialize a little. Without fail, soon the video causes the session to crash. Even before the crash, video doesn't work that well. Has this been the experience for mostly everyone? And, if so, does anyone know what the future holds for video during jamming?  Thanks, Doug

  "Disconnected from server"

What are some of the reasons why someone would get random crashes and "Disconnected from server" messages?

In session JamKazam shows No Audio with Behringer and FocusRite
Posted by: jm98029 - 08-03-2020, 09:26 PM - Forum: Help with Audio Gear - Replies (2)

I had a FocusRite 2i2 for months which was working.  I gave it to my son, who on a different computer is having all of the same problems explained below.

I purchased a FocusRite 18i8, downloaded the drivers and ran the setup.

At this point in a JamKazam session, I was getting "No Audio," and others couldn't hear me.  I could hear them.  I ran through all the videos, setup audio gear setup.

I was never able to get rid of the no audio message and no one could ever hear me.

I bought a Behringer converter and have had all of the same problems with jamKazam.

What could possibly be the problem???

I am at wit's end!

Audio Interface update now issues with latency
Posted by: mskennedy.mk@gmail.com - 08-03-2020, 02:59 PM - Forum: Help with Audio Gear - Replies (3)

I have been using JamKazam with close to zero latency.  I updated the software in my Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 2nd Generation Firmware 1583 to Focusrite Control 3.6.0.1822
Scarlett 18i8-00009e03.  Desk top PC running Windows 10.
Since my update I get latency of 11.x.  I change my ASIO settings to 16 and when I Resync, JamKazam changes ASIO Driver settings to 240.  Nothing I can do changes this setting.  I use in other DAW programs and can change as needed without issue.
The update was for the Scarlett and may not be something you can address, but other programs are not affected.
This means I went from Zero latency to often not passing latency test to join or create session.
If you have any information please let me know.
Thanks in advance!

M Kennedy

Re Audio Input: I am trying to use JK on my MacBook Pro. I am unable to make my microphone be heard by my friend in my session, whether I use the internal mic of the laptop or my Shure mic plugged into my interface. I can hear my friend in my headphones and also see her video image when she hosts the session. My latencies are good, with a nice green signal. My mic is not muted and when I look at my slider, I can see the lights flickering when I talk into the mic. But my friend does not get the sound. Any ideas?? I know my internal mic works since I use it all the time in the dreaded Zoom. Thank you for any suggestions...

  Audio will not start

On Windows 10, using the app, I have been trying to listen in on any of the sessions listed in the ‘feed’, clicking the play button in the green session bar, but every time, it says preparing audio, wait, and then it fails. Just to check, I even get the same results on my ipad on safari on jamkazam.com!
Please let me know what I may be missing..I’m new!

  Hooking up a Yamaha P-125
Posted by: denison@imd.org - 08-02-2020, 05:20 PM - Forum: Help with Audio Gear - Replies (3)

I got my guitar hooked up to jamKazam and it works great!  Got a Behringer U-Phoria UMC 204HD plugged into my Mac laptop and plug my 2 mics -- one for my amp and the other for vocals -- in the 204HD and it works fine.

Now I'm trying to hook up my Yamaha P-125 keyboard.  Is the best way to do this to go from USB-B MIDI output on the keyboard to the 5 pin MIDI input on the back of the Behringer?  Or is there a better way??

Thanks for any help that you can give me!   Dan

Sample rate mismatch : Found a Solution
Posted by: lcmac - 08-02-2020, 04:48 PM - Forum: Help with Audio Gear - No Replies

Setting up new audio gear, I was getting the error message:

"Your input device samplerate (44100) and output device sample rate (48000) are assymmetric"

While the "New Gear" setup page in Jamkazam has a dropdown menu where you can adjust the output sample rate, or choose to "match" input and output sample rates, the functionality does not seem to work.

MAC
On a Mac (I'm on MacOSx 10.13), I found that the input and/or output sample rates can be adjusted using the:

   "Audio Midi Setup" app

... which was already present on my Mac.  I found the app using the "Spotlight" search function (upper right corner of screen).  Since my input device supports a sample rate of 48000, I set it as such to match the output device -- and voila, no more sample rate errors!

WINDOWS (using ASIO)
On Windows 7/8,8.1/9/10; open the dedicated ASIO Control Panel by going 'Start' > search for 'ASIO Control Panel' > open this. The sample rate can be changed here.

I found these solutions on a Focusrite support page ( https://support.focusrite.com/hc/en-gb/a...-interface ).

  Hosting vs Latency
Posted by: jproy - 08-02-2020, 02:29 PM - Forum: Help with Live Jamming Sessions - Replies (1)

Hello

is there a benefit to have the person with lowest or highest latency being the host of the session ?

Our drummer has the worst latency of the band.  (Total latency around 40ms, when I hover on his icon in the session)
The host is generally the keyboard guy, with about 30ms Total.
Bass/vocals and Guitar(me), we have in the 20ms Total Latency.

Whenever I start a song and the drum needs to join after a few bars, he gets in a bit late... after a few more bars, we usually "rejoin each other"...
But wondering if a simple host switch would help.

  Delay echo in recording
Posted by: chrismacor - 08-01-2020, 09:38 PM - Forum: Help with Audio Gear - Replies (2)

My wife and I are testing Jamkazam.
Were both using Mac pros with Focusrite audio interfaces.
Were able to play together fine but the audio recording has a delay.
Does anyone know how to alleviate this issue?
Thanks for your help,
Christopher
