So I'm headed out for a rehearsal & I don't want to tote a tube amp, even though I have some ax fx 2 power amp. I grabbed my (now discontinued) Crate Power Block. It sounds great w/a JBL K120! Nice & punchy w/tons of headroom. I have to say that convenience has won out here & I'm pretty sure I'm going to use it at my next gig.
Anybody else here wants to confess an appreciation for a particular SS amp?
Thanks
I plug my guitar into Channel 2 of my audio interface. I have thus selected Channel 2 as my Input on JamKazam and Outputs 1 and 2 of my interface, as my Outputs.
I also elected by Bias 2 guitar amp simulator, as my plug in. It all was accepted. However, when I record audio of my session, I only hear the non processed sound of my guitar. Why is it that I do not hear the processed sound? The plug in is active, but all i hear is the clean sound of my guitar. I am concerned because I suspect the prople I jam with are probably only hearing the clean sound of my guitar as well. How do i JamKazam to recognize the post plug in processed sound?
We had a test session last night with 3 people A – B – C with the followingSetup:
Person A: Windows10 Laptop, Interface Steinberg UR22MK2, Internet 45Mbit/s download, 9Mbit/s upload
Person B: Windows10 Laptop, Interface Behringer UMC404HD, Internet 84Mbit/s download, 38Mbit/s upload
Person C: Mac Laptop, Interface Focusrite Scarlet Solo 3rd Gen, Internet 64Mbit/s download, 13Mbit/s upload
Physical Distances:
A – B: 7 km (3.5 miles)
A – C: 30 km (20 miles)
B – C: 23 km (15 miles)
Experiences:
A => B: reasonable total latency, good sound quality
B => A: reasonable total latency, high internet jitter, very frequent package loss 100% and low audio Bw Rx resulting in extremely bad sound quality, i.e. frequent and long disruptions (95% of time no audio at all)
A => C: reasonable total latency, good sound quality
C => A: reasonable total latency, good sound quality
B=> C: high internet latency resulting in high total latency, good sound quality
C => B: high internet latency resulting in high total latency, good sound quality
For details refer to attachedSketch01 with the session diagnostics to and fro between all participants.
Comments:
B and C had a session one day earlier, same set up, same equipment, same internet, same settings in JK: internet latency 10ms, total latency 18 – 20 ms, good sound quality
A and B had a session a couple of days earlier, same set up, same equipment, same internet, same settings in JK: low internet jitter whatsoever resulting in good sound quality, total latency approx. 25 ms
What we tested last night to get rid of the problems:
Leave the session and step back in person by person: no change => no change
Cancel the session and restart it => no change
On all 3 laptops: Sign out from JK, shut down JK, restart laptop, new JK session => no change
Just A leaves the session/new session with just B and C => no improvement with the B – C/C – B issue
Just C leaves the session/new session with just A and B => no improvement with the A – B issue
New experience: After 1 ½ hrs of restarts, new sessions etc. (see above) all of a sudden the A => B issue was gone without any changes in settings whatsoever. Clear sound without disruptions now. However, the B – C issue stayed unchanged. Refer to Sketch02.
Questions: Any explanations for the phenomena described? And more important, any ideas or advice what to do to get rid of the issues, reliable and for good? “Works every now and then” wouldn’t be a good basis for regular band rehearsals.
I am trying to set up an audio profile on my JK using Windows 10 Laptop. I had set up one profile using the Focuscite 2i2 audio interface and it worked beautifully but as I am trying to help other members in my musical group so I tried to set up a profile using headphones into the 3.5 mm jack on the laptop and using the onboard Microphone on the laptop itself.
I have tried setting input device to "Microphone Array 1 (Realtek HC Audio Mic input with SST) - WDM" and the Audio Output Device to "Speakers 1 (RealTek HD AHoudio output with SST) - WDM"
I then get an "Invalid Audio Device" Message. JK then cycles some sample rates and then I am stuck. Has anyone encountered this and might know of any good fixes.
The last few weeks have been terrible trying to use JK. People joining can't get in at all or get in and some or all of the other session members can't hear them. Players drop out either completely or audio only during sessions. We waste at least 1/2 hour with people repeatedly trying to rejoin, restarting JK client, rebooting computers, and closing the opening new sessions. If we're lucky we can get in 45 minutes of playing before something goes wrong again.
I play in 3 different regular groups and all 3 are experiencing this.
Please, I'd like to hear from JK itself. I am assuming that the defaults on the client are the settings JK prefers we use. 3 or 4 weeks ago there was a release that had Prefer Lowest Latency as the default. That week was the first where sessions became total disasters and we had to bail. A few days later was another release and a notable change was the default was once again Prefer Peer-to-peer. So I must assume this was intentional from the developers.
A lot of forum posts are complaining about this exact same issue and every JKer I've spoken with BAR NONE are experiencing these issues.
I suspect part of this issue is something to do with servers/caches. When I am forced out of a session and looking to get back in, I see some of my session members in "other" sessions which is not the case and these other "ghost" sessions in fact don't exist. Rebooting the JK client seems to be the only way to clear this up. And then after that actually getting into my original session is still subject to all the connectivity problems mentioned above.
PLEASE JAMKAZAM - DON"T LEAVE US IN THE LURCH. SAY SOMETHING!
Fellow JK-ers. Everyone means well but please don't reply with second-hand anecdotes like "I heard some people have done this or that and it worked...". If you have first-hand repeated success I'd love to hear about your methods.
I am in two groups that have used JK for several months. We like all have had intermittent issues, but these have generally been declining. However, I have had one session with each of the groups (totalling 7 members) since the Oct 27 update, and it has been the worst experience for some time. One member in particular gets repeatedly dropped from the session (last night even more consistently, could not get through a song without losing the drummer). In addition, individual members suddenly cannot hear other members but can be heard themselves, and can hear some but not all of the members. This has happened throughout the sessions with both groups since Oct 29.
Is this a problem with the update? Or are there refinements of settings that need to be changed with this update? Suggestions? We have been highly impressed overall, but these were terribly deflating episodes.
Hi,
I have a problem with my new Win 10 and sessions in Jamkazam. My audio gear (Behringer UMC 202) works very well on my laptop HP Win 8 64-bit but with my desktop PC, having recently installed Win 10, there is a big trouble for me.
For instance, I've hardly managed to set my audio gear, and when I try to open a new session my audio gear works about 5-10 sec then disappears, becomes gray on Jamkazam, and on UMC Control Panel appears ASIO not active, but initially has appeared ASIO is active for about 5-10 sec. If I unplug the USB of UMC202 and start Resync it works again about 10 sec then disappears again, then appears an Alert saying INVALID AUDIO DEVICE. I cannot understand what it happens.
- I have installed ASIO4ALL v.2.14 and UMC drivers 4.59.0.
- CPU i3 3.7GHz (9th generation), MB ASUS H310M-E, 8gb RAM, GPU Palit nVidia GeForce GT630 etc.
Hi,
I've started a session and set it to be 'standard agreement'. I want all musicians to retain copyright of their work.
But under this setting is a checkbox for CC-BY-NC-SA which applies to all music created in the session. I can't create a session without agreeing to that.
Can someone explain why there are two licenses and their implications?
To me it seems that no participants can retain owner$p of their work if I agree to the creative commons license (and they can only join a session if they agree too).
see attached image for client layout on windows 10 machine, surface pro 4
app functions but text is was too small to read - cannot find how to correct this
can anyone help please. thanks, Matt
Hi everybody,
after the 27th october update we are facing a transmission problem.
There is a periodic 100% packet loss either one- or even biderictional.
Starting an stopping new session was useless.
Does anybody have the same problems?
Best regards
