  Bandmates Can't Hear Me
Posted by: ArtPlaysBass - 11-13-2020, 02:12 PM - Forum: Help with Live Jamming Sessions - Replies (6)

I'm running the condenser mic on my double bass into an acoustic image ten2. I'm then connecting the direct line from my amp and a separate talk-mic through a behringer UMC202HD and the only thing my bandmates could hear was the talk mic. My settings were fine for me--I could hear everything well through the headphone out of the UNC, but there was nothing coming through at all from the line for my bass,

Thoughts?

  Not all inputs showing?
Posted by: abentley - 11-13-2020, 12:35 PM - Forum: Help with Live Jamming Sessions - Replies (1)

I've just managed to jam with my band, but the "Personal Mix" settings aren't showing every input.  Two of us have two inputs: guitar and voice.  Under "Personal mix", I only see voice for my bandmates, and they only see my guitar.  But I hear the other guitarist's vocals and guitar, and his guitar is plugged directly into the audio interface, so it can't be mic bleed.

Under "Audio inputs", I see two entries for myself, and my bandmates see that for themselves, too.

They are on Mac, I am on Windows 10.

  Audio Interfaces and Windows 10

I am running Jamkazam build 2.00 version 1.0.3913 and Windows 10 build 19041.630.  Can anyone confirm that they can jam with JK using either the MOTU M2, Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 3rd Gen or Native Instruments Komplete Audio 2 on these JK and Windows 10 versions without issues?

Stereo microphone setup - Mac suggestions
Posted by: nike - 11-12-2020, 10:05 PM - Forum: Help with Audio Gear - No Replies

I bought two (why not stereo) Shure MV5 mic's for my Mac, to setup my wife (serious amateur musician) with JamKazam for chamber music work.
- searched high and low, then found out from Ms. "Music Repo" on YouTube that I had to set up an aggregate device with Apple Midi Setup utility to handle two channels
- aggregate stereo device worked great - left and right mic's
- Audio tool on Finder screen gave the mics both the name "Shure MV5", but the Midi setup tool could differentiate them

Thumbs Down Behringer UMC202HD
Posted by: Bryanmac - 11-12-2020, 10:00 PM - Forum: Help with Audio Gear - Replies (2)

Installed Behringer UMC202HD today. It installed OK with downloads from Behringer Website, it's listed in Device Manager, and is set as default in Sound Manager.
It tests OK for Input and Output, it works with Audacity. BUT JK wont accept it. I've followed through all the steps in the instruction video yet when I go "Manage - Audio Configuration" it only offers two Options -  For Behringer 404HD and 202 and it cant find either, which is not surprising as I've not installed either.
I've found a number of similar threads posts but none seem to offer a solution that helps.  Laptop is new Dell Inspiron 1500.

I/O Rate was good now it failed
Posted by: hafstang - 11-12-2020, 09:15 PM - Forum: Help with Mac Client Problems - No Replies

Just a little while ago the I/O Rate of my JK setup on my iMac running Catalina with a Behringer UM2 digital audio interface was green and working fine.  Now it turned just red and my audio gear has failed.  What happened?

  Distortion in voice chat microphone
Posted by: hafstang - 11-12-2020, 07:17 PM - Forum: Help with Mac Client Problems - No Replies

I am new to JK.  I am using an iMac running Catalina 10.15.7 and a Behringer UM2 digital interface.  I have a hardwired Ethernet cable to the computer.  The audio from my electric bass guitar though one of the UM2 inputs seems fine in my headphones, but the Voice Chat is highly distorted at a Frame Size setting of 1 where I get the best Latency test result of 8.27 ms.  If I change the Frame Size setting to 2, the distortion largely goes away, but the latency test result increases to 10.27 ms and is labeled as "fair".  I don't want to bother people by jumping into a session and having them get frustrated with me due to having only "fair" latency.  Will this be a problem?  I've tried using a separate microphone plugged into the second channel of the UM2 interface (and adding a second audio interface in JK).  Neither of these configurations eliminates the distorted audio from my voice in the headphones at a Frame Size setting of 1.  Comments most welcome.  Thank you.

  how many musicians per jam
Posted by: carvinae185@gmail.com - 11-12-2020, 04:19 PM - Forum: Help with Live Jamming Sessions - Replies (5)

Assuming good gear and decent internet bandwidth ( 35 down, 5 up or better), would you expect expanding a jam from 4  to 5 members to tip us over the edge in terms of latency?

We're all within 70 miles of each other in the greater Seattle area.

Only a single voice input showing up from other musicians
Posted by: Casochaci - 11-12-2020, 04:01 PM - Forum: Help with Live Jamming Sessions - Replies (2)

Hi there,  new to the platform and trying to get my band set up.  My bandmates have a Scarlett 2i2.  I am able to get them in a session but instead of seeing 2 inputs from their Scarlett, I only see one Voice input.  However, I can hear their voice and guitar. I obviously cannot mix their voice and guitar within that single input, which would be nice.
Is this normal?  Is this a limitation of the platform or am I missing something?
I can't find any information on this subject on the internet.

Thanks

to mic or not to mic?
Posted by: chigger - 11-12-2020, 04:39 AM - Forum: Help with Mac Client Problems - Replies (2)

Hey gang,  I'm using a Scarlett Solo third generation with my upright bass.  Trying to use the internal mic in my Mac laptop to talk to the other musicians is not working well. I'm going to get a mic.....keep in mind, NOT for singing.....just to talk with the other jammers. How does this work? Do you leave the bass plugged in to the Solo instrument port AND have a mic plugged in also? At the same time? Or do you use the mic to talk AND capture the bass and not have the bass plugged into the inst. port?  Doesn't the bass being plugged in have better fidelity and better latency?  What about leaving the bass plugged in and having a mic that you can switch on and off when you want to talk?
Anyone in a similar situation?  Your thoughts?
Thanks, C.
