Question:
Can a Tascam DP-32SD mixer/recorder be used as an audio interface on JamKazam?

Win 10 is recommended, or mandatory?
Posted by: carvinae185@gmail.com - 11-17-2020, 11:44 PM - Forum: Help with Windows Client Problems - Replies (3)

One of our jamming partners is using Win 7.    Others on the forum use Win 7, apparently successfully.  But the recommended windows OS is Win 10.  Is that just a suggestion for most people, to have fewest problems?
I know Win 7 is a security risk, as does our partner, but that's another matter.

  Audio distortion (overdrive)
Posted by: Harpo S - 11-16-2020, 07:42 PM - Forum: Help with Live Jamming Sessions - Replies (1)

I've been using JamKazam successfully for 8 months.  Today it seems totally broken (not sure if its the new sw load that was pushed out).

As soon as I start a session in JamKazam (even a private session) my audio becomes severely distorted - as if overdriving the channel.

Equipment:
Alessis multi mix 4 USB mixer and a microphone.
Wired ethernet to router.
Fiber interent service.

Tried various JamKazam mix levels and can't make it go away (without reducing audio to zero).

Any ideas?

Allan

Hello Jammers. Has anyone upgraded to the latest Mac OS - Big Sur? Any Jamkazam issues noted?

Thanks,
Norman

Should I worry about buffer bloat?
Posted by: carvinae185@gmail.com - 11-15-2020, 09:29 PM - Forum: Help with Network Gear - Replies (4)

When I run the DSL reports speed test I get a grade of D for buffer bloat ( centurylink DSL  40 up, 5 down ).  The buffer bloat is only on upload and if I configure the speed test to limit things to 3 mbps the bloat goes away.
Since we have a few ways to limit/throttle bandwidth etc in the Jamkazam app, should I even worry about buffer bloat being caused by Jamkazam  outgoing/transmitted data?

In my case I usually have exclusive use of our internet connection during JK sessions.  Hard wired of course.   Our jams are probably 75-80% successful with everybody within 75 miles of eachother.  I seem to get good latency and reasonable jitter, but want to do all I can with the gear I have.

Was even considering a smart/managed gaming switch so I could rate limit ( throttle ) my JK connection, keeping it below any buffer bloat territory.

"aopt_violation": 1,
I'm having an issue with one user which was good recently. He has a new BEHRINGER which I have connected with several times. Something has changed.

I can not successfully connect in a group with this user;

In the log file, I noticed this which was different than any other in the small group. What does this data point refer?

Plugin FL Studio not found (scan) anymore
Posted by: tortue.geniale - 11-15-2020, 10:04 AM - Forum: Help with Audio Gear - No Replies

Hi,
I was using FL studio VSTi plugin as a midi input for my Akai mini mk2 midi keyboard. It was working greeat on JK and suddenly I cannot find it anymore in plugin list even after clear the list and scan again or checking the good folder path.
I have heard that only 32 bit plugin were working so I re-installed FL studio with only 32bit plugin but still not found.
Could anyone advice me ?

Bug volume/panning doesn't work on Windows?
Posted by: mdtodd - 11-15-2020, 01:23 AM - Forum: Help with Live Jamming Sessions - Replies (3)

I'm on a private session with two other jammers. I'm on Windows and they are both on Macs. They can adjust other jammer's volume or pan them left/right, but my level controls for them don't change anything in my headphones (no volume change for individual jammers, no panning). We're all on the latest and greatest and have no other problems. Makes me wonder if there's a bug in the Windows version?

Thanks guys for a great product!

Best 2 channel interface for Mac?
Posted by: MIL8 - 11-14-2020, 02:51 PM - Forum: Help with Audio Gear - Replies (3)

Working on getting our band setup with interfaces (still).

I already own a Behringer UMC1820, from what I can tell it seems to work well, I usually get a latency of 2.5ms, the jitter is the only thing on my screen that once in a while goes yellow, everything else seems to stay in the green.

I had planned on suggesting the Behringer UMC204HD to the other band members (drummer, bass, other guitarist), however our bass player uses a Mac. I've been going over threads in this forum trying to learn more and a few have said a better choice when using a Mac is the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 over the Behringer because of the way Apple interfaces with the Behringer unit.

Would this be your first choice for a Mac? Any others to consider?

Thanks!
