RME Fireface 800 WDM and not ASIO?! |

Just wondering why my RME Fireface 800 shows up in Jamkazam as WDM and not ASIO? I have all the drivers etc showing up as ASIO in Cubase though not here? Am using output 5+6 on the FF800 and not anyting to do with Windows as they are off in the Bios and wouldnt use them anyway.
Am using Windows 10 64bit with an AMD Ryzen9 system.
If anyone could help shed some light on this, I would most appreciate it. Can it cause havock in JamKazam as I regularly have crashes when several times in a session.
Thank you

sound quality, volume.... |

Hello,
this post is a little off-subject (so it's miscellaneous) but I thought that in the context there may be someone with some experience which they can share (particularly wind players like me).
I have got setup ready for a session but I have found that what I hear through the headphones isn't great - I have I think mastered the dials and buttons and I can hear me but I need everything turned up high to get some volume and the quality is rather muffled - well, this is the case for the clarinet and to some extent the flute, but not the saxophone - the acoustics for the saxophone when I play at home have always been troublesome and the sound is in fact better in the headphones but this is not so for the clarinet and flute which sound worse over the headphones - I don't have a lot of experience with headphones so maybe all this has nothing todo with jamkazam and the audio interface.
well, these are my observations, does anyone have remarks to make on the subject? maybe there is scope in jamkazam for playing with this but I haven't yet discovered it.
thanks
Ian

Mackie Onyx producer 2.2 interface |

Has anyone got experience using a Mackie Onyx Producer 2.2 audio interface with JK?
At the moment, using the Mackie driver (installed specifically as it is the recommended driver for the interface) I can only get to jam with 1 input (RH port 2), be it vocal or guitar. The LH port 1 just doesn't get picked up by JK.
I have the option to use the windows driver already installed in the pc, and JK picks up both channels then, but the latency is not good enough to jam.
I have spoken in detail with Mackie about this, but they can't help as it is an issue down to JK software.
Anyone got an answer please?

Improving Mac Performance with Bootable JamKazam Os Drive
...just sharing
Disclaimer: The following applies to those that are knowledgeable and comfortable with creating Os boot disks. At your own risk.
I’ve been using JK since March 2020 and my music buddy and I have been getting creative with improving our setup to minimize local latency and CPU Processing. Since internet latency is out of our control, I am sharing a couple of things we have tried that seem to help. Both of us have MOTU interfaces, not that this matters. We are both on Macs, but different models and OS version.
1. I created a dedicated MacOS Sierra boot drive and installed Jamkszam and the audio Interface driver on it. I noticed my system performance is much better because I have no 3rd party applications calling home, and no need of my LittleSnitch IP monitoring utility. Essentially, it'a a vanilla operating system - minimal. When in JK, my CPU processing is down from 20 to 12 %, and audio interfaces and jitter is very low and infrequent. Additionally, I no longer experience unexplained intermittent audio disconnects. Generally speaking, it just runs better.
2. Bypassing the Router. When running from the boot drive, I connect my Mac directly to my Modem - bypassing the router. Of course this impacts my local network but in my case it’s okay. Some Modems have an extra Ethernet port on them. Mine does not.
Overall performance is better and more stable. I also have the JK UDP port option enabled but I don’t believe it would apply since there are no other incoming services to contend with, and the Mac’s software firewall is Off.
It took me about 2 hours to put the Sierra boot drive together, and information is available online to do it. In my opinion since Catalina is the current OS, it may be easier to use the installer from the App store – the certificate should still be valid. When you run it, you should be able to choose an external Drive as the destination. Using Sierra is my personal preference because I like it and I already had the installer.
Does this improve internet latency? Not exactly. It's important to not have false expectations about internet latency. But it has helped reduce and eliminate local latency as much as possible.

I was using my rocksmith input device as my sound interface with my electric guitar, it was working perfectly (as I expect with this fairy interface). However, yesterday I was trying to use a headphones (that has terrible bluetooth performance) with a 3.5mm connection, and somehow I disable the sound devices of my windows and then even the sound icon of windows with a red X was being showing, the Jamkazam was working. Then, today I reset my sound configuration to let everything working as before, but now I can not hear my guitar in Jamkazam, the strangest thing is that the metronome sound is working, so is not the conexion of the jamkazam with windows and my speakers, and if I play Rocksmith, the guitar sounds perfect. I tried to reinstall Jamkazam, reinstall the audio gear, but nothing seems to work. Can anyone explain me how to reset all the sound configuration of the Jamkazam with windows?
Thank you

Audio file volume control |

My peers and I were surprised to find that only the person controlling playback of an audio file could adjust its volume. Participants can adjust the Media Tracks level in Power Mixer but shouldn't have to; instead each participant should be able to set their own volume for the audio file, like any live track or the metronome. Also it would be nice if the default volume were 0 dB instead of -10 dB.

OK, so struggled with a friend last night to get everything dialed in and we got pretty close. I have been running virtual cable and have steam so there are virtual mic and speaker options there as well, which made it a lot more complicated.
Shut down the session last night and hopped on the computer this morning. Yeah, only the steam options are there; my laptop cannot even see / find my on-board audio any more, despite "device search" and all of that.
I basically have no audio on my laptop anymore and I would like to know what ideas people might have about restoring it and what Jamkazam may have done so that I can avoid it in the future ...

Hello everyone. In my opinion, there are still too many Jamkazam users who have not indicated which instrument they play and where they live. I would like them to realize that completing or updating their profile is not difficult or tiring and would allow everyone a better use of Jamkazam. It is absurd to have to join a session just to find out which instruments are already present and if the musicians live on another continent. Time is wasted and others already present are disturbed. Is it possible that something so simple that is for the benefit of all is so difficult to implement?
