When playing MAC to MAC all goes well ( latency and Jitter) But when MAC to Windows we can only play together when video on MAC only. Latency at levels to 300+ and Jitter also in RED. But also with levels that jump constantly significantly. See attachment What to do to improve?
I'd be curious to hear from anybody who is teaching lessons online using JK.
I began teaching my lessons online in mid March when this whole Covid-19 mess hit - over night things had changed from teaching in my local studio in a music store here in Boulder, CO to teaching at home online.
I use everything .. whatever the student is comfortable with - Zoom, facetime, Skype, Google Duo etc ... but those apps really have limitations.
I then heard about JK - and went about getting it set up. I see all sorts of potential with it. The biggest drawback is it is not easy for those to set up who are not well versed in the ways of computer audio and DAW operation. Most people do not understand many of these basics.
If it is not *easy* for students to set it up ... it will never be used widely by the music student population. I'm not trying to be negative here ... I want this to be a workable option. I'd even pay a monthly fee if I could teach my lessons with JK and all my students could use it without the hassle of getting everything set up. BUT - it's got to be EASY!
So I've been using it with 1 student and we have been playing some classical guitar duets and it works pretty well. But he is techno-savy and he stuck with it until everything was working OK. He is a programmer and his comment to me was "this is not ready for prime time".
So I passed on the info about JK to another student who is in his 70's and retired and also somewhat technically inclined with computers. He said he wasted 4 hours trying to get JK to work on his PC with his UAD Arrow interface - frustrated and felt he had wasted valuable time. This is NOT the kind of experience I want my students to have because it reflects poorly on me.
On the other hand - when using JK - I can speak and the other person does not get cut off - the full duplex aspect seems to work quite well. The results are way better than the above mentioned apps.
When going to jamkazam.com and clicking on the JamBlaster or JamClass links - they lead nowhere. many of the links in the JK a[pp lead nowhere - This just looks really bad and unprofessional. Again I not trying to be a jerk - I'm trying to offer some constructive criticism. I think the JK people are really onto something ... but it's gotta be more solid and easy to set up.
Any other teachers out there that can share their experience and tips with JK and teaching?
I've yet to try to join any random jam sessions online but would like to in the future.
After the last update, my jamtracks will not load. The app freezes. I tried clearing the cache. It tries to reload the track but then freezes at authentication. Anyone else having this problem?
But I opened my mac version and there was no update i noticed. So I went to the download site and reinstalled, but it looks like it might be the same version as yesterday for mac. mac build 1.20 v1.0.3674 is what i've got. My PC version updated just fine. Anyone else know if this is the updated version or not and is there a way to get version numbers on the changelog?
I was jamming with 2 other folks They could could hear each other both guitar and chat They could hear me both guitar and chat I could not hear them, eitherthe guitar nor chat
I am currently using a Komplete Audio 2 and a PC , set to Input one for my guitar and the output set as "Chat microphone" through the little microphone built into my headphones.
I was hoping anyone had any ideas/suggestions. Thanks!
The JK client ap is so teeny on my screen I can barely make out the text. It fills the entire laptop but the images of each component is a font size 5 or less. It is fine on the web and appears to mirror the client ap in design. Can I adjust the size of the client ap display so it is legible for a geezer?
I used the search function but didn't find anything for the following case:
In a session with Member A alone all works fine. In a Session with Member B or C alone everything works fine, too.
If I invite them in a Group-Session, Member A works fine in both ways but Member B can't hear me (I am greyed out at the software), but I can hear Member B.
Member B can hear Member C, but not me or A... it seems to be a little randomly for me.
I have a lenovo computer idea pad flex 5. I think it matches all specs. I have the focusrite plugged into a usb 3 port and the computer hard wired to the internet. At the first page of the gear test, it finds the Scarlett 2i2, chooses "same as input" though I don't see anything in the list of output ports. And nothing happens with the test window. With my guitar plugged into the Scarlet, I can hear it only if I have the I/O device set to direct monitor. What should I do?
For trouble routing signals to and from Presonus StudioLive24 Riii via USB to an iMac to Jamkazamand bringing the mix all the way back Pick any two channels on the StudioLive Series III mixer for your actual physical inputs except 37 and 38 (16 and 17 if on SL16R) , e.g. mic into #5, bass into #9. USB to the iMac Settings in the iMac: launchpad>system preferences>sound input set to Internal Mic. output set to StudioLive24R
Your iMac and your Universal Control/StudioLive are set but you’re not done. Now you have to make sure that the Jamkazam mix can get to your iMac:
In Jamkazam: Make sure your output is set to the StudioLive mixer. AND designate (check) channels 37 and 38 for specific outputs AND uncheck all other boxes. AND make sure that only the necessary inputs are checked on the input side. Your headphones go into the Presonus!
