  JamKazam on iPad?
Posted by: jm98029 - 05-26-2020, 06:11 AM - Forum: Help with Mac Client Problems - No Replies

Is it possible to load JamKazam onto an iPad and interface a digital converter (FocusRite)?

  Sliders do not affect anything
Posted by: b-chromatic - 05-26-2020, 02:55 AM - Forum: Help with Audio Gear - Replies (2)

Apologies if this has been covered.  I searched and found nothing.

I am new to Jamkazam and so far have jammed a couple of times with a friend.  Things went pretty well, but setting up today today I realized that the sliders for my instrument and vocal mic don't control anything in my headphone mix.  Ditto for main mix.  Muting the channels does nothing either.  I realized that when we played I had been making level changes on the interface!

I am using an Allen & Heath Zedi8 interface.  It has two channels in and two channels out.  The slider on the metronome does work and I can hear that perfectly.  I can also hear my friend, so I know that I am getting an audio signal back from Jamkazam.

It's probably Operator Error, but what's up?

Thanks for your help.

  Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 3rd gen
Posted by: Chris Sugden - 05-25-2020, 10:09 PM - Forum: Help with Audio Gear - Replies (12)

I've just bought this, to replace my old Lexicon Alpha, which worked fine with JK, though latency at 20ms. I was hoping to reduce latency with the new gear, but JK won't cooperate with the Scarlett - although I can enter the correct ASIO driver with i/o, it told me I needed to do the loopback test. I connected the input jack to the headphone jack, but the test would not run, and after a while,, my laptop crashed. I have tried this many times, and always with the same result. Any ideas anyone?

Latest update 1.0.3680 now says audio interface I/O sample rates is now asymmetric
Posted by: amoxitine - 05-25-2020, 09:53 PM - Forum: Help with Mac Client Problems - No Replies

Hi there,

Looks like the latest update for the Mac app (v1.0.3680) no longer seems to like my previously working Behringer Q502USB interface as it's now claiming that the input and output sample rates are asymmetric (48k and 44.1k respectively) despite all working fine on all of the previous releases I've installed in the last two months using the same interface.

Would anyone have any ideas what's happened as I've tried clearing the audio config in JamKazam and re-adding but it just doesn't work like it should now Sad

Problem solved, I had installed Ableton Live earlier today and by default it was set at 44.1k and not 48k so switching core audio sample rate to 44.1k on my MBP without me realising! Been a long day today!

  Router, Connectivity, Audio
Posted by: zbook@comcast.net - 05-25-2020, 09:41 PM - Forum: Help with Network Gear - Replies (1)

I'm running JK on a Win 10 laptop connected thru a Netgear 3700 modem/router.
I added two lines to client.ini for port forwarding to port 12000, but made no changes in the router.
After launching JK, I can see, using the Netstat command, that there are 5 or 6 ports opened by Jamkazam.exe starting at port 12000 using IPv4, and more using IPv6.
It looks like JK is connecting OK.

I'm also using the built in mic and speakers for my audio at this point, and get no sound with ASIO drivers, and weak distorted sound with WMD drivers.
The latency with ASIO was 23, and with WMD 4.

Is an audio interface the likely solution to my issue(s) ? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Question basic start-up
Posted by: sarodiya - 05-25-2020, 04:20 PM - Forum: Help with Audio Gear - Replies (2)

Hi, All -  I'm brand new here and excited at the JK offering. Thank you for being patient and helpful! So, basic hook-up question. I have a 2017 MacBook Air and a newish Yamaha Mixer with USB out. When I connect the mixer to USB it works with Zoom just fine. Question: can I use the same set-up for JK? The Mac's, or, do I need a stand alone audio interface?
I still need the mixer as I have multiple line & mic sources I'm using. I'm planning on getting the thunderbolt to RJ45 adaptor (any recommendations?) for the internet connection. Finally, I'm a Comcast/Xfinity customer and if someone is familiar with that provider (and their generic modems) do you have any suggestions on the best set-up with that? Thanks!

Does Variance make a difference as well as Latency?
Posted by: jimship - 05-25-2020, 12:56 PM - Forum: Help with Audio Gear - No Replies

I have two Audio Interfaces: Steinberg UR22C and Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 3rd gen.

In the JamKazam audio setup test:

- Steinberg has 8.84 ms latency with 0.15 variance

- Focusrite has 7.58 ms latency with 0.28 variance

How important is the difference in Variance levels? Will one or the other device function better overall in JamKazam? Or is the lowest latency the only factor that needs to be considered in which device to use (Focusrite wins the latency test)?

Thanks!  - jim

  Audio live broadcast through Skype/Zoom

I want to host a Zoom/Skype call - and be able to share our JamKazan session live (not recordings)  in the conference. Audio only, no video - is this possible?

Route software backing tracks into JK?
Posted by: Filote - 05-25-2020, 04:03 AM - Forum: Help with Audio Gear - Replies (4)

Hi, New to JK as of today. Searched forum, but nothing answers this question:

I know backing tracks can be added from files into JK as tracks in a session; but I'm looking for a more direct approach. I'd like to have multiple audio sources into JK:

e.g., Take the signal out of backing tracks apps like "Band in a Box" (BIAB) or iReal Pro, and send that as an input track to JK
...as well as take the incoming piano and vocal mic from the audio interface as input tracks into the same JK session.

Maybe Loopback by Rogue Amoeba or something similar might be able to do that? Maybe one way to do it would be make a virtual audio device:

inputs: signals from BIAB as well as the hardware audio interface.
outputs: the output of the virtual audio device would be sent to JK.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

  Distortion Problem
Posted by: Alan Murphy - 05-24-2020, 10:45 PM - Forum: Help with Live Jamming Sessions - Replies (9)

Hi,

The distortion problem we have is as follows:

My friend has keyboard and I have guitar - only us in a session which I have started

Both of us are using headphones

I can hear myself and my friend - no distortion

He can hear me - no distortion, but hears himself with distortion

It seems like a level problem, but where is the problem ?

No visible sign of clipping into the red

My thoughts are - My signal is going to the server, as is his signal

I get both back which is all ok

He gets both back as well but his keyboard is distorted - How can this be when the server had his undistorted signal to send to me ?

He normally listens to youtube through his headphones and has no problem, so his output amp and headphones are probably ok

Any ideas,

Many thanks,
Alan..
