  Custom Session templates
Posted by: mfalcondrum - 12-05-2022, 05:14 PM - Forum: New Feature Requests - No Replies

In addition to the JamKazam built-in quickstart session types, it would be nice to have custom templates to start a session right away, such as specifying all the session parameters: Genre, name, description, access: open or by RSVP, notation files, etc.

So we could define our own session types, like this:

Rock Session / "Classic Rock all night..." / open /
Jazz Session / "Real book Jazz" / RSVP / Friends follow musician access / Notation files

  JamTracks Info Please
Posted by: rachristman - 10-26-2022, 04:20 PM - Forum: Help with JamTracks - No Replies

Hello, New to JamTracks, love the concept, but wondering if someone could please help me understand a few things:

1. it is still an active program that is growing with new tracks being added or if it is stalled and not developing any further?
2. Are songs contributed by users?
3. How do we pay for songs and when we do can we store them off the site or is it just a streaming access form this site?
Thanks,
Bob

Has anybody tried to use Jamkazam running on a Windows virtual machine in Virtualbox or any other virtual machine software? If so, how'd you fare?

JamKazam app won't download on mac
Posted by: ddheck - 10-01-2022, 07:53 PM - Forum: New Feature Requests - Replies (1)

Hello,

Does anyone have any advice on how to download the jam kazam program on a mac?  I am a new user and after trying several times to download the app it doesn't work.  I'm trying to play with other musicians online.

Sincerely,
Doran

No Updates in More Than a YEAR!
Posted by: Tony Diamond - 08-20-2022, 07:36 PM - Forum: Help with Live Jamming Sessions - Replies (20)

Seems there have been zero updates to the Jamkazam application since July 13, 2021, more than a year ago. There are still many things that don't work at all (broadcasting), don't work well (video streams), and the promised major updates to the streaming efficiencies that was supposed to happen when this switched to a paid subscription service. There are also still a lot of issues with drop-out and stability in a session periodically and certain people not able to hear each other randomly.

Is this platform bow dead in terms of development? I'm still paying a subscription so I hope not, because that was the whole idea of the subscription switch - i.e. to finance actually further active DEVELOPMENT of this platform. Can someone from Jamkazam give us an update on where this platform stands at the moment, developmentally?

  Persistent audio dropouts
Posted by: pduraybito - 08-20-2022, 05:55 PM - Forum: Help with Windows Client Problems - No Replies

Hi, I just upgraded from WDM on my Dell Optiplex 790 with a Realtek High Definition driver using ASIO Link Pro to run ASIO Jamkamzam sessions. I am plugging into the Dell box mic/headphone jacks from a Yamaha mixer; there's no separate DAW unit. The Audi Configuration Review Report is all good with average latency. I am getting audio dropouts every minute that last about 5 seconds. Any ideas what might be causing this? Thanks, Peter.

  What is a 'Follower'?
Posted by: Sticks - 08-01-2022, 03:54 PM - Forum: Miscellaneous - Replies (4)

What is the purpose of 'following' someone?
What is the difference between a 'Friend' and a 'Follower'?
I have no social media experience, hence my question.

Thanks for your help!

How does the Free account timer work?
Posted by: TWDay72 - 07-29-2022, 02:16 AM - Forum: Help with Live Jamming Sessions - Replies (1)

JK's site says, "Free plan users are limited to a 1-hour maximum session length, a total of 4 hours of session time per month, and a max of 4 players per session. The Free plan does not include access to recording, broadcasting, or video features, and limits audio stream quality to 128kbps per stream." I have been on the Gold plan for about 2 years, but when my JK group broke up I dropped my paid account. A friend and I tried the free session setup last night and discovered that while the JK timer ran out on both of us, we were able to keep playing another 1/2 hour. Is that how it is supposed to work?

Mac M1 Pro and Max JK Issues?
Posted by: scottfauts - 07-21-2022, 08:15 PM - Forum: Help with Mac Client Problems - No Replies

Hiya - since I picked up my M1 Pro MBP when I try to connect to JK - a single solo session works fine. But when I switch to a group session - we get terrible input and output jitter over audio devices, sporadic spikes and it's unusable.

I have tried using my PreSonus Studio 24c - and the direct Interface on my Roland TD27. The PreSonus worked great over Midi using my previous Macbook Pro (Intel) and an Intel Based Hackintosh - so the culprit appears to be the chips here. My guess would be it's to do with Rosetta.

Of course I've tried multiple cables etc, direct input, hubs and the issue remains. The Internet latency is always fine but the input and output jitter it's claiming is the device goes absolutely crazy. Cpu usage is fine around 5-6%

I guess the question is - is there anything we can do about this?

More than happy to do some work around it!

  can not hear one bandmate
Posted by: TCGreen - 07-15-2022, 04:48 AM - Forum: Help with Live Jamming Sessions - No Replies

I have used JamKazam successfully for years with my friend Pete. I have a decade old Mac and he has a new one. Our other friend, David, with an old PC has difficulties.

Today we both tried to Jam. We could see each other on the screen. I could hear myself, but not him. He could not hear me and was not sure if he heard himself. When I looked at our individual sessions, I could see level lights for me, but not for him. We are both using Artesia a22xt.

At another session with the 3 of us, We could all see each other. I could hear Pete and David. David and Pete could hear me. David could hear Pete, but Pete could not hear David.
We tried rebooting without improvement.

Any advice?
