  15 ms latency problem
Posted by: Nogi57 - 01-12-2021, 02:42 PM - Forum: Help with Audio Gear - Replies (5)

Hi,

I have a latency problem, maybe you could help?

Here's below some specs and the JamKazam report.

Windows 7(64 bits)
Proc.: Intel® Core™ i5 CPU 760 @ 2.80GHz
RAM : 4,00 Go
Uplink bandwitch : 10Mbps (JK required 1Mbps)

JamKazam Audio Configuration Review Report :
1.Poor Audio Latency: Audio input/output latency is 15 ms. Tuning or changing your audio device could reduce latency less than 5 ms.
2.Excellent Audio Frame size: Your audio frame size is 2.5 ms.
3.Excellent Audio Driver: ASIO.
4.Excellent Input Sample Rate: Your audio input-output sample rate is 48000 (or multiple).
5.Excellent: Wired Network(RG45 15ft Ethernet cable).
6.Excellent Packet Rate: Your default packet rate is 400 pkt/s.

External Sound Card : Tascam US-600;
Session Audio Inputs(Live Tracks) : US-600 - ASIO;
Session Audio Outputs(Requires 2 Ports) : US-600 analog L/R - ASIO(same as Inputs).

I am a drummer using an electonic drumkit, with 1 microphone(XLR - ch 3) via an 4 channels analog mixer :
Electronic drumkit module to analog mixer via 2-TRS(ch. 1-2, panned L/R);
Analog mixer to my external sound card via 2 others TRS;
External sound card to my computer via a 6ft USB 2.0 cable.

So what may cause the 15 ms latency? I read that ASIO bypass the internal sound card, so why my external sound card is the problem? Even if the ASIO driver in/from it is excellent(as JK report saying)?

Thank you.

  static

My friend and I both use Macs and Artesia on the silver plan. He can hear me just fine. Whenever he plays, sings or talks, there is static which increases as the volume of his playing or singing increases. We have tried altering the input volume on my side and the output volume on his side without improvement.
He does not get any static from my side.

  Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3rd gen Latency and jitter
Posted by: bbirling - 01-11-2021, 09:33 PM - Forum: Help with Audio Gear - Replies (11)

I am running the Focusrite solo 3rd gen on Win 10 laptop. Couple questions.

1. Has anyone gotten the Latency under 7.4ms
2. When using a Logitech 920 the input output jitter becomes upwards of 7-8 and occasionally 1.00.
3. Along with the above, some scratchyness and pops but mostly when the jitter starts to jump around.

I have gone through many many on the videos and settings for the suggested changes to the system and router. None seems to have an effect on the issues.

Thanks for the help.

  No new JamTracks since 03/18/2016
Posted by: DAG - 01-11-2021, 06:03 PM - Forum: Miscellaneous - No Replies

I have been a JamKazam member for a long time. My list of purchased JamTracks is long. My question to everyone is:
Why haven't there been any new JamTracks added since 03/18/2016 ? There have been quite a few new songs that have hit the music market since 2016.
I would like to see some of the new artist's recordings put into the JamTrack catalog to purchase and play.
Does anyone have an answer to this question? If I decide to become a PAID member, this is one of the requirements I would expect.  Cool

  Power Mixer does what?
Posted by: carvinae185@gmail.com - 01-11-2021, 04:11 PM - Forum: Help with Live Jamming Sessions - Replies (2)

I see the compressors, but as far as basic levels you can set in the main session screen ( audio inputs and Personal mix) what does the Power Mixer page offer?   One of our biggest problems is when musician A wants more of B's vocals, but not more of B's instrument, etc.
It seems only B can fix that , but then he may screw it up for C and D.

What does this "Prefer Personal Mix" option do?

  Focusrite Carett 8Pre USB
Posted by: bluenfunky - 01-11-2021, 03:32 PM - Forum: Help with Audio Gear - Replies (3)

Hi,

I'm using a Focusrite Clarett 8Pre USB on Windows 10. I keep receiving a message from the JamKazam application that my latency is poor at 7.2ms. If I change the buffer size in the Focusrite software to a smaller size JamKazam keeps resetting it to a higher size.  Does anyone know if this an issue with JamKazam or a problem with my interface please?

  Use of Alesis multi mix (non fx) as audio interface

I am a new user. I have the alesis multi mix 4 (older). Rather than purchasing a new interface, I was wondering if this can be used with any success on JamKazm ?

  Universal Audio (UA) Apollo Twin Tuning and Settings
Posted by: Bear Ltd. - 01-10-2021, 06:40 PM - Forum: Help with Audio Gear - Replies (1)

I've been using JamKazam for about five years, and it wasn't until I got a paid subscription, and got that pop-up about performance issues, that I actually dug into how to make things better. I was using a PreSonus FireBox until summer 2020, then got a UA Apollo Twin, and here's what I've tweaked so far in case it helps anyone else.

Sample Rate: I changed the sample rate to 48000 (was 44100), which fixed the "Poor" sample rate setting.
Frame Size: it was 2.5, I changed it to 1, which fixed that issue.
Latency: fixing the Frame size dropped my latency from 11.4 to 8.5, which is still just "Average." There's a note in the pop-up that mentions 'tuning' your interface, but I couldn't find any articles on how, so I started messing with settings in the UA Console (open from your Apps pages). In the bottom left of the Console window is a "Settings" button (opens the same window where you changed the Sample Rate, if you had that issue).  There's a dropdown for "Input Delay Compensation." Mine was defaulted to Medium. Based on my gear, here's how the Latency changes with different settings:
- Off: 4.3ms
- Short: 6.4ms
- Medium: 8.5ms
- Medium/Long: 10.5ms
- Long: 25ms

The UA Site says this is mainly needed if your tracking multiple devices, and uses drums as an example (which I'm assuming is more than 2 tracks?). I don't have practice again until Thursday night, so I'll have to report back on if this sounds ok with three people playing, but it sounded find just now with just vocals / bass.

Here's my setup for reference, not sure how much any of this impacts the above:
- Apollo Twin
- iMac (mid-2011) with 16GB RAM / 2.7 chip
- hardwired to my router (Comcast broadband, 233 down / 11 up)
- two channels: voice and bass
- I'm in Virginia, playing with a drummer in DC (8 channel Focusrite / FioS), guitar in Philadelphia (2 channel Focusrite / FioS)

  Mackie ProFx? Gear latency at 2.5 frame rate?
Posted by: carvinae185@gmail.com - 01-10-2021, 05:56 PM - Forum: Help with Audio Gear - Replies (5)

I'm considering the six-channel version of this, but the big spreadsheet on here listing acceptable interfaces shows it at 13ms latency.  Not that good.  But they didn't specify the frame size.  I have to run 2.5 for backing tracks.  Anybody own one of those?
