Focusrite Carett 8Pre USB |

Hi,
I'm using a Focusrite Clarett 8Pre USB on Windows 10. I keep receiving a message from the JamKazam application that my latency is poor at 7.2ms. If I change the buffer size in the Focusrite software to a smaller size JamKazam keeps resetting it to a higher size. Does anyone know if this an issue with JamKazam or a problem with my interface please?

Universal Audio (UA) Apollo Twin Tuning and Settings |

I've been using JamKazam for about five years, and it wasn't until I got a paid subscription, and got that pop-up about performance issues, that I actually dug into how to make things better. I was using a PreSonus FireBox until summer 2020, then got a UA Apollo Twin, and here's what I've tweaked so far in case it helps anyone else.
Sample Rate: I changed the sample rate to 48000 (was 44100), which fixed the "Poor" sample rate setting.
Frame Size: it was 2.5, I changed it to 1, which fixed that issue.
Latency: fixing the Frame size dropped my latency from 11.4 to 8.5, which is still just "Average." There's a note in the pop-up that mentions 'tuning' your interface, but I couldn't find any articles on how, so I started messing with settings in the UA Console (open from your Apps pages). In the bottom left of the Console window is a "Settings" button (opens the same window where you changed the Sample Rate, if you had that issue). There's a dropdown for "Input Delay Compensation." Mine was defaulted to Medium. Based on my gear, here's how the Latency changes with different settings:
- Off: 4.3ms
- Short: 6.4ms
- Medium: 8.5ms
- Medium/Long: 10.5ms
- Long: 25ms
The UA Site says this is mainly needed if your tracking multiple devices, and uses drums as an example (which I'm assuming is more than 2 tracks?). I don't have practice again until Thursday night, so I'll have to report back on if this sounds ok with three people playing, but it sounded find just now with just vocals / bass.
Here's my setup for reference, not sure how much any of this impacts the above:
- Apollo Twin
- iMac (mid-2011) with 16GB RAM / 2.7 chip
- hardwired to my router (Comcast broadband, 233 down / 11 up)
- two channels: voice and bass
- I'm in Virginia, playing with a drummer in DC (8 channel Focusrite / FioS), guitar in Philadelphia (2 channel Focusrite / FioS)

new MacBook - JK does not detect any webcams - yikes |

I have a (literally) brand new MacBook Pro and JK "does not detect any webcams". I cranked up the photo booth app just to make sure the camera is working. All good there. The OS is Big Sur 11.1 (20C69). Any suggestions would be very welcome. I basically bought this Mac to jam with some friends. My other Mac didn't die but it's from 2009 and this was a good excuse to get a new one. However ... I really need to see those fretboards.

Can you run a quick test, turn on local monitoring? |

Can someone run a test? Turn on local monitoring on your interface and see in a session if the personal mix sliders actually work FOR YOU. I think my interface is setup to have local monitoring always on, so personal mix doesn't work for me, on my sources. I have to adjust what I hear in my headphones, of my sources, by adjusting controls on my interface ( it's a combo interface/mixer) Personal mix does work to control what I hear of others.
Private session is probably good enough

Reduce Latency with Focusrite Solo on iMac |

I've installed and set up a Focusrite Solo 3rd generation on my iMac running OS10.15.7 Catalina. I'm getting a latency of 11.27 ms. But specifications state that I should be able to achieve a latency of 8 ms. I'd appreciate any suggestions you may have. Thanks.

Frame rate setting in Gold plan? |

Is it no longer possible to change the Frame rate setting in the Gold plan?
That setting is inactive for me.
I fear that this is now reserved for Platinum, is that true? If it is, I think this is a pretty bad decision, as it affects the basic functionality. Low latency is basic functionality for JK, otherwise, what's the point...

Headphones Output - Scarlett 2i2 |

Hi!
is there a way I can use the Headphones Output instead of the two Output ports on the back of the Scarlett 2i2 3rd Gen?
The only way I can hear sound out of the headphones output is by activating direct monitoring, which is actually not advised.
Thanks!

Mixer into Jamkazam |

Is there a better way to use my gear? My "audio interface" is essentially a mixer. Roland HS-5 Session Mixer intended to function as a 5-user headphone jam system. But it gets quite good local/gear latency ( about 5ms) using it's ASIO driver over USB to Jamkazam.
I monitor from the main output of the HS-5 but I've now noticed that the personal mix in JK has no effect for my inputs. I can mix what I'm hearing of my guitar and vocal on the HS-5, and I can affect levels of the other musicians using the personal mix in JK.
Using one of the five individual monitoring jacks on the HS-5 wouldn't give that flexibility because the guitar and vocal come in on separate inputs to the HS-5.
