  M1 BigSur 11.2 - Session constantly crashes
Posted by: FraSa - 02-24-2021, 08:59 PM - Forum: Help with Mac Client Problems - Replies (1)

? Anyone else experienced this:

JK running on a M1 MacMini using an RME Babyface and a generic Chinese HD USB Webcam (brandname JIGA at Amazon)

I managed to create a session and could communicate wit a fried fr some time, this was interrupted by JK crashes several times, but I could re-enter the session after a restart of JK. then I joined a session and JK worked for about 5 Minutes, then suddenly crashed (disappeared completely). After restarting JK and re-renering this session JK crashed after maybe 10 seconds repeatedly for about 10 times, until I finally gave up.

When can we expect a native M1 version?

The software seemed a bit fragile during the whole setup process, so it feels a bit like not too good running this software. think I will instantly revoke my silver plan.

regards, Frank

JK won't load - since Fri Feb 19
Posted by: JiminSalmonArm - 02-23-2021, 04:39 AM - Forum: Help with Mac Client Problems - Replies (16)

Is anyone else having this problem?
I've been using JamKazam very successfully since March 2020 - always a few glitches, but every week getting better and better.
Worked fine Thursday Feb 18
Then Friday Feb 19 it would not load - repeatedly got error message  in a red box  "N/A",  the the error message "unable to load conversations"
All my Friends are missing
Will not allow a session to start - not even a private session.  error message "Unable to start a session"

I've deleted the JK program and reloaded - same issue
My log in and password work to get into JK,  but are rejected by

MacBook Pro (13inch mid 2012) OS 10.14.6   16GB RAM

A neighbour 50 miles away had issues but eventually got his to work
A second in my same town has the same issue, and still no go
We are all in British Columbia, Western Canada

The rest of our band in mid and east coast USA don't have any issues.

Anyone else having this issue?
Thanks for any suggestions
Jim

  A positive experience - so don't dispair

Yesterday, for the third week in a row, I had a successful band/rehearsal/session with the same group of people. Circumstances where thus, that we were able to play freely and at times even reach a tightness coming close to having actual 'pocket' (for the lack of a better word, I think most will understand)

Our situation; the group varies from 5 to 8 people & myself (I'm a stand-in, tech/coach) scattered over Netherlands. 80-140km apart.
Two peers with a MacBook Pro, the rest laptop/PC/W10. All with minimal tweaking. (but the obvious)
Focusrite, Behringer & Presonus external sound cards.
All with headphones and talkback / vocals via a sound card attached microphone - no speakers or onboard 'gear' involved.
All with a true public IPv4 address, no port forwarding (but myself) or tunneling.
One peer on fibre, the rest a mixture of cable (DOCSIS) & xDSL at multiple providers.
(All JKz gold accounts. All on 'Prefer P2P path')

Yesterdays 'pings' - comparable to prior occasions - as seen on my end (I'm the furthest away from all other peers)
'Best' = 11ms steady (to the person on fibre)
'Worst' = 22ms/fluctuating (to a person with a shared cable/DOCSIS) connection.
The rest sub 20ms.

This is, even for a drummer, a very enjoyable situation that holds up for an entire session with minor glitches.

Not looking to bloat, not trying to prove a point, not looking to start a 'yea nay', just reporting a positive sound  Tongue
It can be done. With a little perseverance and common sense.

D./

NB - "will it ever be the same?" (as 'live'?). Nope! But for these people, in strict medical quarantine, it is a very welcome positive break.

NB2 - We have actually been able to do this many times before, starting many months ago. But since there are reports of trouble with current installments, including "it used to work okay but it is not now" - I specifically wanted to report on our current situation.

Is a live session jam with video even possible?
Posted by: mportman - 02-21-2021, 06:05 PM - Forum: Help with Video Gear - Replies (7)

I'm on day 5 of setting up JK to work with my laptop (Windows 64 bit Intel i7) Presonus Audiobox 96 and Xfinity high speed ethernet connection. I am a pro-user/early adopter when it comes to tech such as this but after scouring the forums and YouTube videos I see that many recommend not using video if you really want to avoid latency problems.

So I want to ask whether JK is really just an audio-only jamming platform? Yes, I do see lots of examples of it being used with video but I also see many video latency issues being discussed in these forums and wonder if jams with video is even a real option and, if so, how.

I haven't yet tried it out, and as soon as a friend of mine who is also setting up JK is ready we will be doing some test sessions, but I'm here to ask if it is even worth trying. I'm starting to think not.

Thanks,
 - Mark

Recording myself playing along with JamTrack
Posted by: mportman - 02-21-2021, 05:47 PM - Forum: Help with Audio Gear - Replies (2)

I want to record myself playing along with a JamTrack in a private session. If I open a JamTrack I do not see any option to record the session except for the Record tab at the top of the page. If I select that record option, it does not record the JamTrack only my input.

Am I missing something or is recording the JamTrack along with myself not an option?

If not, is there any workaround to play, and record, another backing track along with myself?

Thanks.

I can only hear one participant
Posted by: stevekop@hotmail.com - 02-21-2021, 01:53 PM - Forum: Help with Audio Gear - Replies (3)

I have a problem on a Windows laptop and Presonus audio box.  I can hear one participant.  He and all of the others can hear me and all others.  I can hear the others faintly.  Rebooted router, laptop, JK client - no change.  All the same folks worked together many times before this issue started.

  Dropped from Sessions
Posted by: rubato - 02-19-2021, 08:36 PM - Forum: Help with Windows Client Problems - Replies (3)

I am a new user and have done a couple of sessions.  I keep getting dropped from the session after about 30 minutes.  The screen makes it look like I'm still in the session, but I can't hear and they can't hear me.  Clicking the leave button won't work and I have to close out JamKazam and open it back up to re-enter the session.  I'm running Window 10 Pro on a desktop machine that is less than a year old and have the sleep setting to never.

Thanks for any advice that will solve this problem.

  audio setup
Posted by: al.harris478@gmail.com - 02-19-2021, 07:41 PM - Forum: Help with Audio Gear - Replies (4)

I have a Mac running Catalina and am using a Focusrite 3rd Gen interface. This has been working fine with Jamkazam but I had a crash today and had to restore from a Time Machine backup. Now I get no audio through the interface into Jamkazam. The interface is fine with Presonus Artist and other audio software. I uninstalled Jamkazam and downloaded a fresh copy and installed that. I went through the audio setup and the interface appeared in the drop down list but no audio came through, When I got to the page with the single test button, this worked fine.
If I go into a session, I can hear others but there is no audio input from my mic and instrument despite the lights on the interface showing activity. If I switch on the direct monitoring, I can hear everything. This is turned off when I am using Jamkazam.
Any suggestions would be very welcome. This is driving me gently off the rails....
Thanks
Al

  Headphone distortion
Posted by: edward.allen@yahoo.com - 02-16-2021, 07:09 PM - Forum: Help with Audio Gear - Replies (3)

I have searched the forum for "headphone distortion" and found no posts.
I have also searched for "headphone" and I don't see any posts that deal with headphone distortion.
Apologies in advance if this topic has been covered.  If so, please point me to the discussion.

Any help would be valuable, as JK is basically unusable for me until I beat the following challenge:

The Problem
With my headphones on, I'm getting distortion that sounds (when I sing) as if I had plastic wrap over my mouth.
I also get distortion when I play my acoustic guitar and I do not sing.
Both of these occur when I'm using a microphone to pick up my singing or playing.
I also get distortion when I play my digital piano directly (1/4" jack) into my interface, and don't use the microphone.
The distortion is worse when I play or sing more loudly.

Other participants claim they do not hear this distortion; it is local only to my setup.

When there are no other participants (I am in a private solo session) and I record myself in session using the JK "Record" feature,
my recording lacks the distortion (it may be that it is present, but is lower in volume, relative to the signal) I heard when making the recording.

I get no headphone distortion with the same headphones when using the exact same setup recording into my DAW (Cakewalk/Bandlab).
I get no headphone distortion any other time I used the headphones, including listening to Youtube videos, etc.

Info that may be relevant
My Steinberg audio interface has a red LED that shows when the signal is too hot, and that LED is not lighting (I have verified the LED is not broken).
I am also getting complete dropouts occasionally, when I cannot hear either myself or the other participants for about 1-2 seconds.
This dropout problem is less painful than the headphone distortion.
I just made an adjustment to my computer configuration so that the Service Host SysMain process is disabled, because it causes occasional heavy temporary
CPU usage which may have caused the dropouts.  Too soon to tell if that helps.

I have only one audio input configured.
I have played with the volume levels in the "audio inputs" and "personal mix".
Currently, the level of the slider in "audio inputs" is at the top of the green.
The level of the other slider, "personal mix" is just under the third bar from the top.
During the performance I don't see either of the dynamic level meters go into the red.

Groove Tube PSM1 microphone
Beyer Dynamic DT 770 Pro headphones
Steinberg UR22 mkII audio interface using native ASIO driver

Windows 10 computer (HP)
The following info comes from Control Panel->System
dual-core AMD A10-5700 APU
8 GB RAM
64-bit operating system

Windows power management is configured to use "High-performance" instead of "Balanced",
and maximum and min processor state are both set to 100%, (as is recommended by other posts in this forum, and resources on JK)

Any help or advice is appreciated!
Edward

Can’t get ASIO4ALL driver to produce low latency with my Audio Interface box
Posted by: richezHab - 02-15-2021, 07:25 PM - Forum: Help with Audio Gear - Replies (1)

    I have an ASUS G11 desktop PC (I7-6700 CPU @ 3.40 GHz 3.41 GHz)
I am trying to use JamKazam with a friend to jam online
I have a Moukey MSC1 Audio Interface box USB 3.0
I have installed ASIO4ALL to try and improve on latency.
The JamKazan test using the WDM supported mic and headphones achieved 19 ms in the latency test (close to the red zone but barely acceptable)
When I select the ASIO driver and the mic and headphone input / output I get terrible latency results of plus 450 ms and can only get that result through a loop-back test.
I have tried changing all the available ASIO buffer settings, latency compensation etc settings to no avail.
Any advice would be helpful. Thanks

I also removed the ASIO4ALL 2.14 version and tried the 2.13 version as suggested in a help video which didn't help.
