  Zoom Q2n-4k as a webcam
Posted by: 415drums@gmail.com - 03-29-2020, 01:17 AM - Forum: Help with Video Gear - Replies (12)

Has anyone tried using a Zoom Q2n-4k video recorder in web cam mode to provide audio and video for Jamkazam?   The camera in webcam mode is only 720p, but it should be fine at that resolution, and it has a great mic for live music.

If anyone has gotten a Q2n or Q2n-4k to work, can you also plug in a line-in to the Zoom to get the video and line-in audio out of the webcam?  Or must you plug the line-in into the computer, hence video from the Zoom and audio from the line-in.

Is JK Peer-to-Peer or server based?
Posted by: Seisiuneer - 03-28-2020, 11:54 PM - Forum: Help with Windows Client Problems - Replies (2)

Just curious, are the individual clients doing the heavy lifting when using JamKazam or is this a server-based architecture?

We've been having quite a bit of success setting up sessions between southern California and Colorado, with latencies around 40ms. Amazing!

  What does "Resync" do exactly?

Curious what exactly the "Resync" button does...

  iSight camera mac activation
Posted by: Jim Reeves - 03-28-2020, 09:24 PM - Forum: Help with Video Gear - Replies (10)

Has anyone gotten the built in iSight camera in their Mac to work with jamkazam?
Trying to set up video, I get a message saying there is no video camera found.
So can jamkazam use the iSight camera? if so, how did you set that up?

  Jamkazam revival
Posted by: Baz - 03-28-2020, 08:30 PM - Forum: Miscellaneous - Replies (2)

Hi, I believe Jamkazam has been unsupported for some time but it looks like there’s a revival due to sudden demand because of the pandemic.

1. Will the help service be up and running soon?
2. Will latency be affected by the increase in subscribers?
3. On a technical level, does playing an audio file as a backing track affect latency?

Thanks - great to see you back!

Baz

This is a great document created by a member of the JamKazam community!

It helps someone completely new to JamKazam getting started:

Unable to activate native Windows (Realtek) audio devices
Posted by: Cloud - 03-28-2020, 08:17 PM - Forum: Help with Audio Gear - Replies (9)

I have installed Jamkazam on my Windows 7 laptop. I am trying to get started with the session wizard, and I am in "Audio Gear Setup."
1) The "Instructions" button goes to a broken link, so no help there.
2) I have one choice for Microphone and Speakers (the built-in stereo Realtek drivers), but when I select "Resync" I get an Alert dialog to contact support, followed quickly with another dialog  ("Invalid Audio Device") that says "It appears the audio device is not currently connected." I have tried all the listed sampling rates, but nothing works. I cannot continue in the wizard.
Please help!

  General Network Advice
Posted by: Jamkazam - 03-28-2020, 07:23 PM - Forum: Help with Network Gear - Replies (19)

  1. Go to your router setting and enable UPnP (or NatPNP if you have an apple router)

  2. Call your ISP and ask them to ensure that you have a public IP address assigned to your router and not a private one.

  3. Add the JamKazam app to your allowed list of apps in your Windows/Mac firewall app setting

  4. After that, try running the Network Tests. If you and everyone you want to play with pass the network test, then you should be able to get into a session. We are working on improving session connectivity, so stay tuned!

  How to start a session
Posted by: dlmandel@gmail.com - 03-28-2020, 06:53 PM - Forum: Help with Live Jamming Sessions - Replies (4)

I scheduled a session and it's supposed to start in 7 minutes. But one invitee says she sees no invitation, and I don't see how to actually start it. Help, please!
