Question VST plugin from one track affects another track - any help welcome
Posted by: Giancarlo - 05-12-2020, 08:00 PM - Forum: Help with Audio Effects Plugins - No Replies

My audio setup is something like this:

Track 1 (Input 1&2): Piano with VST plugin for equalizer (Maag Audio EQ4)
Track 2 (Input 3&4): Vocals with VST plugin for channel strip (Lindell channel X)

I have added the plugin for Track 2 just today only to find out, that it is also affecting the signal of track 1.
I have no idea why this happens or how I could correct the issue.
Has anyone experienced the same?
Any ideas for a solution are very much appreciated.

is latency lower with higher sample rate?
Posted by: benwades - 05-12-2020, 07:38 PM - Forum: Help with Audio Gear - Replies (2)

I have yet to test this, but when setting up audio gear, is it best to set sample rate high like 96k to get lower latency?  I would have thought the opposite but maybe not?

  Saffire Firewire bitrate
Posted by: ncc101 - 05-12-2020, 07:02 PM - Forum: Help with Audio Gear - No Replies

Im using a Focusrite Saffire Pro40, firewire, windows.    The firewire interface is Saffire Mix Control.  Sample rate I arm using is 48.   Using the Saffire Mix Control, I set the Buffer Size to 48 ( I also tried 64, 128).  When I fire up a JamKazam session, no matter what I set it to in the Saffire software, JamKazam  changes the bitrate to 32,  which causes clicks/ticks.    Focusrite says JamKazam should have a parameter to set the bit rate there, and the Saffire will take it.  Im not having any luck finding that parameter.  Can anyone help?

  jbridge for 64-bit VST plugins
Posted by: bullmoon - 05-12-2020, 05:41 PM - Forum: Help with Audio Effects Plugins - Replies (3)

If you are trying to use 64-bit plugins with Jamkazam(32-bit) you will most likely need something like jbridge to allow the two work together.  Great piece of software that I have been using with my DAW forever.  https://jstuff.wordpress.com/jbridge/

  UDP ports required...
Posted by: StuartR - 05-12-2020, 04:18 PM - Forum: Help with Network Gear - Replies (7)

There seems to be some confusion about the number of UDP ports required for JK. Some of the comments in this forum suggest that 10 ports are required while documentation I have from JK themselves indicated that just 2 UDP ports are needed.

  input without interface
Posted by: schmidt61059 - 05-12-2020, 02:26 PM - Forum: Help with Audio Gear - Replies (6)

A friend of mine is trying to get JamKazam working, but he does not have an interface. Is there any way to pull this off? He's running a bass into a Mac via a USB cable (I presume with an a/d converter). He's plugging in a mic via USB as well (I think). He's used to recording by running this set-up into GarageBand.

I'm guessing this is a no-go, but is there any sort of workaround?

Heart Can't sign in to the app
Posted by: Woti - 05-12-2020, 12:23 PM - Forum: Help with Mac Client Problems - Replies (4)

I can sign in on the website, but unfortunately not (with the same login data) in the app. I have reinstalled the app several times, restarted the computer, changed the password, but it always says "invalid login". And yes, I am sure that I have written the access data correctly![Image: wink.png]  I use OS 10.15.4 Catalina. I have no idea what's wrong. I would be very happy to get help! Thank you in advance![Image: heart.png]

  Compatibility with DS-lite
Posted by: jamaster - 05-12-2020, 07:58 AM - Forum: New Feature Requests - Replies (4)

Hello,

Me and my friends cannot connect using Jamkazam because probably all of our internet connections are DS-lite. I read that Jamkazam doesn't work with DS-lite at all.
While one can try to convince the internet provider to give you a full DS connection (in some cases with additional monthly cost), I wonder if there is no way to avoid this issue within Jamkazam. As many will face this issue in the beginning this could really lower the barrier to entry for many potential users.

I am by no means an expert with network technology. Is it even possible to change the Jamkazam architecture or software in a way that in some mode doesn't use ipv4 at all or is somehow compatible with DS-lite?

If possible, how are the chances that such a feature would be implemented any time soon?

Lightbulb Jamkazam over a LAN
Posted by: GDJ - 05-12-2020, 05:39 AM - Forum: Rehearsals with Choirs or Large Groups - Replies (3)

Can JK be configured to work over a LAN?

In a separate post I had a question about the paring feature and was told it pertained to the JamBlaster. I see the pairing option is now removed. Some of the initial testing I did weeks ago, I discovered I could pair 2 clients by IP to the same session from two separate Macs and JK accounts inside my LAN. Bypassing the internet.

You may be asking, what would be the purpose. For some rehearsals at the same locations, social distancing needs to be respected. Everyone cannot be in the same room therefore the players are in different areas/rooms. And, there is no easy mixer solution to run long cable runs to a mixing board which we would normally do if we’re in the same room. The location is wired for Ethernet. I'm thinking it would be good if we could use JK, everyone could join the session over the LAN. Latency should be ideal since it's handled via the router.

There is another app i have explored (Jamulus), which allows you to run your own servers and specifically internal LAN IPs.

Thoughts?
