Wifi or LAN |

I am less than 10 ft from the modem (through a wall). The wall is a wood frame with drywall, so not much interference. I saw the appeal to use a hardwired connection, so I bought a really good ethernet cable, 30 ft long (since I have to go around two corners and it barely reaches). When I look at my performance on a network speedtest, I see essentially no difference. When I look at JK performance, I see NO difference. What am I missing??

Audio Gear set up, step 5 |

New to JK.
Windows 10, Focusrite 2i2 3rd gen, Vanguard V13 mic, fast ethernet connection, wifi off, all green tests and latency as described as it should be in the set up step by step article.
All going as described until....
....in the last step of the Audio Gear set up (step 5), when it says to completely turn off direct monitoring (which I have done), and then it says to hit the Play button and you'll hear a repeating ding: the noise I hear is a fuzzy almost non-pitched noise, sort of a scratchy sci-fi sonar noise, not at all a ding. Does this matter? What should I check?
I haven't tried to use with anyone else yet, but am planning on trying it tomorrow morning for a lesson.
Would record the fuzzy scratching noise and attach it, but I don't fully understand all the in and out routing I'm looking at. If it's necessary for me to attach, I can figure out how to capture it and upload it to this thread first thing in the morning.
Any help or guidance appreciated. Above average computer literacy, novice to sound tech.
UPDATE: Thought I'd try it one more time before posting this, and this time I got a message saying, "Unable to load test sound, please contact support", with a link that took me to a salesforce page (https://www.salesforce.com/solutions/sma...e/?mc=desk) -- what in the hell??
Can anyone advise?

How to see sessions |

Hello everyone. I have a question. When we go to "find a session" and "open jams" can we see all the sessions open at that moment in the world or just a selection of them? In this case, how is the selection made by the system? Thank you.

Latency and internet connection |

Greetings fellow JK's:
We continue to have some real latency problems with just one band member. He's on a Mac, with a Focusrite Solo. The rest of us all have Focusrites as well. Unlike the rest of us that live in single family homes, he's in an apartment building that I'm sure splits the internet signal.. Would that cause problems with latency, and is there anything he can do - besides move?
Thanks,
Geoff

Crackling sound during session |

Hi,
1) During live sessions, a person in our group is hearing loud crackling sounds from my vocals. When he did the recording and we listened back we could hear the crackling. This was a session that the other person created and I joined. We have tried altering various settings (such as buffer size) on my audio interface and computer, but he still gets the crackling.
2) We did another test where I created a session and the other person joined. I then started a recording and when playing it back there was no crackling sound at all. However the other person still hears the crackling during the live session.
The other person did not get this issue until after the Jamkazam updates (on 27th Sept 2020 there was no crackling on recording or during live session).
Please could you help with trouble shooting this issue we have.
Thank-you.

What's the Roadmap for JamKazam? |

So in May the JamKazam co-founders asked for donations to keep JK alive (https://uk.gofundme.com/f/cy2fsq-keep-ja...-improving) - their target has been reached and the donations have kept on coming. On the GoFundMe page there is an interesting summary of what the money was going to be spent on. I'd be interested to know what the roadmap is to deliver all these improvements, and what's been done to date - some have arrived (a more stable client) but many haven't yet.
What's the plan guys?
The headline areas for spend that are summarised include:
- Reduce Internet latency;
- Guarantee session connections;
- Provide better support;
- Fix bugs;
- Improve the user interface; and
- Help musicians to generate income.
It feels like some work has gone on in areas 4 and 5. Anything else? The web site news hasn't been updated since 2014, not much is posted on FaceBook, and updates on these forums seem limited to a very brief description of client updates. Might be good to engage the users a little more?

Backup & Restore Interface-Specific Configs |

I’m currently using an Alesis Multimix 4 USB mixer as my Audio Interface. I was getting a consistent 16.3 ms latency in JamKazam up until a friend let me borrow a FocusRite Solo. I did Plug-n-Pay with the FocusRite and JamKazam allowed me to select (Scarlett Solo USB) using WDM and achieved 4.0ms latency. Loopback test(s) for the FocusRite showed median Latency Distribution to vary from 184.95 - 374.54ms. This seemed kind of strange when Loopback Test(s) for the Alesis showed median Latency Distribution ranged from 9.35 - 10.2935ms. After returning the FocusRite, I had issues reconfiguring for the Alesis Multimix 4. Initially, latency was higher at 21.3ms than my previous config. But, after tweaking and playing with various settings, I got a Latency of 6.3ms using ASIO. Loopback Test(s) now show Median Latency Distribution to be 8.98655 +/- 1.2996ms.
I can live with that for the time being. But, as I audition other audio interfaces seeking better performance, I would like to save configuration(s) that seem to work ok for specific pieces of gear like the Alesis Multimix 4 and FocusRite Solo with my particular Windows 10 setup.
JamKazam doesn’t appear to have a feature for Export & Import/Restore of Settings.
The only method I see, thus far, is backing up the following .ini files, found in directory C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\JamKazam, to a .zip file and giving it an appropriate filename+date.
Ars.ini
Audio.ini
Client.ini
Http.ini
Mixers.ini
Video.ini
Does anyone else have a solution for backing up & recalling interface-specific configurations for Jamkazam?
