"crackling" distortion
#1
I have been using JamKazam for several months. Whenever I play in a session, the others describe a "crackling" distortion in my audio output. I do not hear it in my earbuds. Latency has not been a problem. My setup is:

MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, Early 2015) plugged in
MacOS Big Sur Version 11.01
Sterling Audio SL230MP Matched Pair mics
Earbuds
FocusRite Scarlett 2i2 audio interface
HyperDrive HD30F USB-C Hub
Ethernet cable -> Synology RT2600ac router -> D-Link DSL-520B ADSL2+ modem
(Would plug directly into modem, but it only has one output socket and I’d rather not unplug router)
Verizon DSL internet service

I am playing a concertina: https://youtu.be/wqwDnMXrY9Q

Other internet devices in airplane mode during JamKazam sessions.

Any suggestions/help would be appreciated. Note, fiberoptic internet service is not available in my area and I have heard that cable internet service has deteriorated.

Thank you.

I am new here - and I have the same -- it seems to be random and not tied to either volume or timeframe.. Every 2 min or so I'll get like 10 seconds of crackling -  it's not clipping - that's a different sound entirely .  hope someone here has a cllue!

Can you tell me what amount of latency is reported from your audio interface during the audio gear setup in the JK client?

Hey there. Silver member here since last year.  I, too, am experiencing significant "crackling". I do not hear it while playing, but it is apparently quite steady to those I play with. One of them recorded it (link below) so I could hear it and use it as an example. I have tried changing my frame size and it seems to behave the same.

Hope this link works...

Also, this is my path...

Guitar->
pedal board ->
RNP8380 Preamp->
XR18->
2014 MacBook Pro (Running Catalina) ->
Jamkazaam

using an XR18 amp modeler for a bit of break up.

Any suggestions from you JK gurus?

it sounds like either a high amount of jitter (variations in network throughput - shows up as long/short ping times) which is a network performance issue,
or an audio buffer running out (not enough memory allocated in the audio stream) which is often an audio driver issue.

Is this a new problem (was it working before without issues)?
