I watched this with interest...and my main takeaway was:  Where did the latency go?  All of the performers were in perfect sync with nary a glitch.  In real life, over even the best of Internet connections, this is rarely possible.  I'd love to know how to make it happen!

I'm betting that the members of each group were in close proximity to each other, internet-wise. It's been my experience that trying to get good sync across town is no big deal, but across a continent has been hit-or-miss.

And there were a few moments where it shure did sound like one or more players lost their reference clock momentarily!
