Can import VST plugins but can't hear them
#1
Hi all

I have had no trouble getting my audio hardware up and running and can create sessions no problem. I have audio signal coming through. However, when I add a VST plug in, I'm not hearing it. It adds to the track fine, but makes no difference to the sound.

I've attached a screenshot here: https://imgur.com/a/74wYm5w

Any ideas?

Thanks

I am experiencing the same issue with Guitar Rig.  Signal is final but when I launch the plugin it does not seem to be working.

Hello all, I got it to work.  I sent the the note below to support.

I figured out how to get it the plug-in to work; but I it's definitely a bug.

So I have a behringer UMC202HD.  I have my electric guitar plugged into the left and my microphone plugged into the right.
I stumbled upon this workaround; if I put the plug-in (in this case the bias fx 2 plug-in) on the voice track (i.e. the right), then I hear all the effects being generated when I play my electric on the left track.  If I sing into the mike, I do not hear any effect on the voice.  So the plug-in has to be on the alternate track.

If you discover any other way to do it, please let me know.  I've also got some intermittent noise coming from my guitar track.  I've tried multiple guitars and still have it.  If I use a different program like Garageband or Bias FX 2 natively on my mac, then no intermittent noise.  Anybody else?

Same with me except I can't even get the plug in to show up on list after choosing it. Hoping for Carneo's workaround but still no success. Don't want to play bone dry may have to add fx prior to I/O but not ideal. No response from help desk so if anyone else figures this out please let us know.

I don't have much experience with VST's in the app (the one i tried one time worked), but I run my inputs through a DAW (Reaper) then send the audio over to JK. It allows me to do a number of things JK can't do (yet?), but one of them is apply any effects chain I want. Wrote up a little setup guide specifically for reaper on PC here: https://forum.jamkazam.com/showthread.php?tid=537

You could likely find similar solutions for any other DAW and a different audio routing software. Likewise on macOS, I know you can use Blackhole or similar (Loopback2, audio highjack, Soundflower) to send audio from a DAW to JK inputs - my keyboard players sound is from Mainstage.

It may be too complicated of a solution for what you're looking for, but it works well for me.

Had your problem today due to a friend installing a 64-bit VST rather than the required 32-bit. After uninstalling the 64 and reinstalling the 32 it worked.

Also be sure that you're selecting the folder the .dll folder is in. Don't drill down into that folder where you can see the .dll you need to be one level up.

It was the Amp/Cab Simulator Voxengo Boogex...pretty good sound for free.
