recommended low latency low cost audio interfaces
#1
I'm helping a friend figure out what audio interface to get to use with Jamkazam. Budget is always a concern. It seems like the interfaces I'm seeing recommended are legacy gear now (e.g., Steinberg CI1 and Behringer UMC202). Would you recommend any currently manufactured interfaces? I'm using a K-mix (https://www.keithmcmillen.com/products/k-mix/) or my Zoom H6, both of which are in the "yellow" ranger in terms of latency. Thank you!

BTW, if there's a list of recommended interfaces, I apologize for posting. I haven't found it yet.

Hi, Toracat! I haven't seen a list of recommended interfaces, but perhaps we could start one! I am using a MOTU M4 on a Mac (about $220), and am getting pretty good results.

Great idea! I'm using a Kmix (https://www.keithmcmillen.com/products/k-mix/) which I love for live performing, as it's both an audio interface/mixer AND a midi control surface, but I'm hoping the Jamkazam latency can be lower than the 10.3 ms I'm seeing. I'm wondering about the Presonus Audiobox which has the attractive price of $99.

I'm having all kinds of trouble getting my Presonus Audiobox 96 USB to connect with JamKazam with a newer Windows 10 PC.   It works fine with REAPER and Studio One.    It may be unique to my setup, but I would be leery about recommending an Audiobox right now.

I saw the help videos using a Behringer audio interface. I ordered one from Thomann.com (UM2 £37 incl postage), will let you know how I get on .

I understand! Someone on chat yesterday reported good results on the latency with their Presonus Audiobox. We're considering it for use with a slightly older MacBook. Good luck getting yours to work with your Windows computer.

My Behringer UMC202HD is working well. I like the size and the sound is great.

I was worried that I needed some EQ capabilities, but I figured out how to use AU/VST plugins through the Power Mixer(⇧+⌘+M). When I point to my Logic directories, it pulls in a couple of EQ that do what I need (my acoustic pickup is bass heavy).

The Audient ID4 was recommended to me.

Thanks, Kavee! Was it recommended by JamKazam? Do you know if the recommender had the Audient iD4 set up and working with JamKazam?  Thanks!
