How does JamKazam work over the internet?
#1
Would like some more detail on how JamKazam works over the net? For example, is everyone connected to a central server, and if are there multiple servers distributed geographically? Is it using WebRTC for peer to peer connections for lowest latency?

I am on Linux so can't test yet and am also wondering about the client statistics, e.g. showing avg. latency to each user etc.

Thanks

It is so called peer-to-peer.

All audio and video goes directly from person to person.

It is not passing through the server(s).

At the same time everyone is of course connected to the server(s).

In session one can see the actual figures for the latency; TOTAL LATENCY between people and so. And more.

Out of session it is also possible to some information about the connection to other people.

There should be four servers, but they have - as said - nothing to do with the actual transmission of audio and video. Only managing, one could say

Very nice, this is exactly what I was hoping to be the case and the only logical thing I could imagine for achieving low latency, real time collaboration!

It also makes sense for a session management server to glue everything together, but not the actual audio/video. So excited to hear about this product, this info should be more accessible somewhere, in my opinion.

Thanks again for answering this!
