I have a report to file on this topic.
It does matter what hardware/OS setup you are using with JK. Different configurations yield different results in the session input controls.
My jam partner is on Windows 10 with a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2. She uses 2 input tracks, both single channel.
I'm on Mac Catalina with a MOTU 828es. I have 2 single channel tracks and one stereo track.
When I adjust pan or volume on my input tracks in the session window, she hears the change, and I do not.
When she adjusts pan or volume on her input tracks, no one hears any change.
Adjustments to the pan or volume of the personal mix work as expected for each player.
We've left the input side alone in the past. Setting the levels with the hardware is easier for me.
Using the personal mix to control pan works fine for us, so this "bug" hasn't bugged me before
