how many musicians per jam

Assuming good gear and decent internet bandwidth ( 35 down, 5 up or better), would you expect expanding a jam from 4  to 5 members to tip us over the edge in terms of latency?

We're all within 70 miles of each other in the greater Seattle area.

Yes, unfortunately that's all that's available to me , on Centurylink DSL. We don't do video though

Why would you want to go there?
Apart from risking being hacked is see no difference.
5up is 5up, inside and outside your router.
Don't worry about it too much. Should be well sufficient for 5 peers. Just don't tax your connection with other bandwidth hungry activities.
Furthermore, if there would be issues in the session it could be not even your problem. Bandwidth is nice to have, a 'clean' connection (no 'noise'/jitter) way nicer.

Security risk was the first thing I thought of.   The DMZ idea came from somebody on the jamkazam Facebook forum  --- as a way to reduce jitter?
