Just had a phone call from my friend using a Presonus Audiobox. He swapped it for an M-Audio FW 410 and was wondering why he was getting 6.89ms instead of 3.xx on the Audiobox.
My theory is that JK sets a latency without bothering with buffer setting in ASIO or CoreAudio. My Octacapture gets 7.5 something on MacOS whatever I set in the interface control panel. On Windows, I get 5.3 ms, whatever I set in the ASIO control panel.
As an example, he was getting a low latency with the Presonus as JK was setting buffer at 16. Lot of clicks and glitches in our recordings as a result.
I know that some succeeded (not sure) to override this in Windows altering an .ini file. No way to do this on the Mac side.
My short analysis but I could be wrong...
Forgot, there is a way to play with latency (minimally): in the Manage tab, there is a window where you could set safety buffer from 2.5ms to 2ms or 1ms.
