Custom Session templates

In addition to the JamKazam built-in quickstart session types, it would be nice to have custom templates to start a session right away, such as specifying all the session parameters: Genre, name, description, access: open or by RSVP, notation files, etc.

So we could define our own session types, like this:

Rock Session / "Classic Rock all night..." / open /
Jazz Session / "Real book Jazz" / RSVP / Friends follow musician access / Notation files

JamKazam app won't download on mac

Hello,

Does anyone have any advice on how to download the jam kazam program on a mac? I am a new user and after trying several times to download the app it doesn't work. I'm trying to play with other musicians online.

Don't Allow Special Characters in User Names

User names you've been in session with are saved in C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\JamKazam\perfStats. User names that end in '.' cause problems when you try to do a clean reinstall because when deleting the JamKazam folder Windows stops when it runs into those files . You have to resort to using the command line to completely remove the JK folder.

Suggestion: don't allow special characters in usernames.

Improve Musician Search Feature

The search feature on the home screen (click Musicians button, then Search button) gives you search criteria like genre, age, etc. Could add to that two other search criteria:

1. Checkbox labeled "Available": would only show musicians meeting your search criteria and who are signed in but not in a session.
2. Allow filtering or sorting by date of last access (in addition to the latency sort option). I think there are quite a few 'stale' accounts that come up in a search.

Show 'real' status of friends that are online

When looking at friends that are online, the status line under their name always says "Available". However, a lot of times I know those people are in a session.

Suggestion: change the status display so that it says "In Session" if a person is in a session, otherwise "Available" if they are signed in but not in a session.

When Friends come on/off line and join a session, those messages are too big and are in the middle of the screen. Please move them near/over the notification area, and the ability to turn those notification OFF while in a session.

Jamtrack display

Can purchased jamtracks be displayed alphabetically, or maybe selected by an alphabet letter to make them easier to find?

Color contrast in app

Low priority - this is a UI readability request

The readability of the apps color contrasts needs improvement.

White/gray letters against a red/orange background or white/gray letters against a green/gray background don't contrast well. Also a primary red background is visually bold if not overwhelming.  It's difficult to read much less to look at for anything but short durations.

There are plenty of color contrast analyzers. I approximated the app's color scheme using http://snook.ca/technical/colour_contras...,bg=333333, against the WCAG 2 standards and it didn't score very well. In normal language, it scored as having poor readability.

That's it. I still use the app, it's truly great, and I love that I can take lessons and play with my instructor w/o latency issues!

Create a generic default capability, that you can expand over time

Every time I set up a session, I have to supply the same info, check the same boxes, over and over. It would be nice to be able to set certain defaults for the quick and the future sessions.

How 'bout a compromise? Just the last two sessions or 48 hour access to sessions. Any thing that allows you to know who was in the room post session.

Add Recorders to instrument list

Creative Space for Songwriters

Hi, relatively new user here.

I've been loving Jamkazam so far.

Just throwing this out there. How many people are interested in a separate creative space for songwriters?

My suggestion would be a separate area focused on showcasing your original songs, collaborations, songwriting circles (ala Bluebird Cafe), or having songwriting nights?

I personally would love to have an easy way to meet other songwriters and focus on the craft.

I think that would do great things for increasing the interactivity and the creative space, and therefore intrinsic value, of Jamkazam.

Quit after uploading downloading recordings

Dear JK,

Just jammed on latest version after updating today. Sound was great. Everyone had steady jitter around 2.5ms and latency was from 19 to 24ms for everyone. And no one had to leave and rejoin the session to get things to work, nor even hit the Resync button. Thanks for the continued improvements!

Did another test recording of a song. Forgot to leave JK running after i left session for the night forgetting about the recordings to upload/download.

It would be most awesome if when you try to quit JK and there were uploads and downloads in progress, JK would tell you "uploads/downloads in progress", and ask "Do you want to Quit JK after uploads and downloads are complete?" with two buttons, "Yes" and "Quit Now" which are obvious what they would do.

Please? I mean who doesn't want this. Or something like that. Could be a setting that will do it automatically without asking.

BTW, i did search for this feature request in this forum but had no luck with the keywords i used in case this has already been asked for.

Multi track other musicians

That could be nice to receive other musician all of their yracks instead of a single track

That way if the other musician is having a track for his voice and another for hisbinstruments, i can select the volume of each component

Mixing presets for different instruments on the same track

Hi JamKazam team,

one idea from our session today. During a session, we sometimes change instruments, e.g., from a ukulele to a whistle. However, individual instruments need a different mixing volume/amplification level. So it would be great to be able to define some presets for the volume for individual instruments and to recall the preset, e.g., by clicking on the instrument symbol and selecting a different instrument.
