Downloading the dmg image

I'm having trouble opening the dmg on a macbook pro running 10.12.6. I double click on the dmg and is only gets 3/4 of the way before quitting.

Any thoughts?

Please try to 'right click' > open (top option)

Did the same thing. Shows the progress bar but only gets 3/4 of the was and then closes
