Help! Timing With Drummer (yellow but need green)
#11
Hi - Terry here (Ottawa, Canada) - just chiming in here - I don't follow this forum regularly.  To test ping, latency, speed and jitter, use this test:  https://www.fusionconnect.com/speed-test-plus/  .  This runs one time, but it will give you an idea of jitter.  Better to run the test continuously for a better indication of jitter over time using an app called PingPlotter, as described here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tf8egy2fADA . The PingPlotter app is available for both Mac and PC.  You can also run ping plots from the command line, as described here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPdotNIX...L&index=25

As Dimitri mentioned, a session with him, or joining my tech session Thursdays (see Upcoming Sessions in Jamkazam) would allow us to see your readings and enable us to offer more suggestions.  Having said that, Dimitri is much more knowledgeable than I am on Mac related issues, as I'm a Windows guy....

Yes I am same zone as picodan so mid to late morning here easiest for you?
Any day good for me.
Much appreciated!

Thanks Terry
Will run all that to prepare for Thursday.
I’m also on windows.
And grew up in Ottawa; so there won’t be any language issues!

For best results I have found the drummer needs to keep the beat regardless of what he hears in the mix. I turn other players in my mix down so they don't influence my playing

A drummer who cannot keep a steady beat is simply a bad drummer. Sounds harsh, but it's the truth.
Stay safe!
