Is there any basic guidance available on how to set up a live stream so that friends can watch a jam on YouTube or Facebook?

compared to others, I am not the expert on this subject. However, i was able to figure it out with the help of the one help / video that is available under the broadcast section in the new help document area. I got it to work, but performance was lousy because my computer doesn't have the horsepower. It's recommended to have a separate one hosting the broadcast. good luck
