help! Static and popping from my mic in all recordings
#1
Thumbs Down
I am the singer in my band. I use a Blue condenser mic and focusrite scarlett solo. In our weekly jam sessions my mic sounds fine but when I check the recording the instruments sound fine but all over my voice is static buzz and popping. I tried chaning via the audio booster in jamkazam the bit rate speeds and frames and adjusted all volume levels with a number of combinations and recording still sounds bad. Now I checked and the local recording of just me is fine it is the RT MIX where this happens so this has to be a Jamkazam issue. What do I do?

If you can make a local recording that sounds good, then your hardware is good. As you suggested, I think the problem is in the RT mix. 2 thoughts:

a) did you look in the Audio Console AKA Power Mixer? A few users, myself inclued, have made some tweaks there that improved overall sound quality. I chose to disable the compression

b) look at the other players' setup. One or more may have higher latency than you, or is using a different sample rate. I've had problems with my recordings when one session member had poor stats. Sounded acceptable in my ears during the session, but the recording was useless.

just taking guesses here....

Manage -> Audio Settings -> Audio console
you will need to be in a session to see anything in the window (no session, nothing to mix)

Where is compression? Still having problem. Listen to this (without getting a headache from the static!) just listen to first few minutes - https://www.jamkazam.com/recordings/42e6...d58db8c6f0

I'm wondering if this a JK issue, and not something we have set incorrectly. Here's why.. I'm noticing it too with the premixed file. Lot's of pops. The individual track files are fine and I just post process them in my DAW. This issue was no happening to my recording back in March, April, and maybe May.

At some point i may decide to run some test but I use an SM58. And, i'm usually at 128 kbx with 1ms frame and experience scratchy audio during my life session. But even the individual record tracks at these rates is clear
