Yes to this - mainly because the control software for a given interface is able to address the hardware directly.
If the interface has no control software, but you have a DAW, then you can launch the DAW before the JK client, and the DAW can address your hardware.
One piece of advice - don't fiddle with your sample rate! Set It, then Forget It.
