VSTs are causing JK crashes - frank visconti - 02-05-2021

I have been using VSTs for quite some time and often as I tweak them during a session it will cause the JK client to crash.  I have to start the app and reload the VST and rejoin the sessions.  I purchased a VST "chainer" which has been working really well to run a reverb, delay, compressor, equalizer, and a pitch $fter at the same time.  It is very reliable, but if I tweak the VST settings like wet/dry or even bypass on/off the app is still cra$ng.  These are all paid for-high quality VSTs, so I'd like to know why they make JK unstable.  Thanks!

I use Mac, not Windows, but I've seen similar behavior in my system. It seems that the more sophisticated and powerful the AU plugin, the more trouble I have with it. Right now I'm just using my simplest compressor and equalizer plugins (the Focusrite Red suite) and not having any problems.

I prefer to run external hardware for DSP and other functions anyway

I was doing the sound technician for a band recently on Jamkazam to send on Zoom.  I had a few crashes at one point just when they were about to start.  I don't know if it was due to VST's...but after 2 reboot and a few app restart it stabilized.  I use Reastream to send each musician channel's in my DAW.  From there I had the plugins I need.  From my DAW, I Reastream to OBS then Virtual Cable B to Zoom.

Once the app stabilized, it all went smoothly.  But I don't know if the chain was making it crash or not.  I get usually one or 2 crash in an jamming evening then jumped back right in.

I find the app over all a bit laggy.  But I can't figure out why.
