Sounds like you are doing everything right, with your existing equipment.

I'm about to move off of a 2012 MBP/Focusrite Saffire (on firewire bus) to a 2019 Mini/MOTU interface (on Thunderbolt 3->2 adapter)

Let me know how it goes and whether u find the Thunderbolt connection makes a significant difference.
Thanks!

I can report that after switching to a MOTU 828es interface, connected via Thunderbolt 2 (using the Apple TB3 -> TB2 adapter), I am seeing Jamakazam client reporting 2.7 ms latency, with jitter never rising above .5ms. In Logic, I'm getting 2ms latency.

The old Firewire interface showed 5.3 ms latency and jitter reaching as high as 1.7 ms.

I'd say the reports of people getting 3ms latency using a MOTU M series box are correct. It's worth considering....

Hi I'm using an Apogee One and a Mac Air Running High Sierra 10.13.6

It works ok, though occasionally I do get issues with not hearing another player.  I have found simply switching to a different USB port on my  Air often solves the issue.  .... Annoying nonetheless. https://vidmate.click VidMate App https://myfiosgateway.win/
